Poll question: Right now .... May 15, 2007 .... which Party is in better shape?
The Republicans seem to be in the toilet. They're all tied, to a greater or lesser degree, to the worst President in history. Their party has been held hostage by the extreme right wing - both rich fat cat types and religious nut jobs.

The Democratic Party has been in the minority so long there are probably damned few still alive who remember what 'Majority' even feels like.

We're coming up on a presidential election cycle where there is NO clear favorite for the general election (even though both parties have primary front runners).

Right now, today, which party do you think, overall, is in better shape to move forward and win a sufficient majority to see its platform enacted after 2008?

Please take a few minutes to make a comment as to why you see things as you do.

2. Do you honestly think there will be non-biased selections on THIS site?
Though still, the Repug Party is in shambles...in a way it hasn't been in years.

3. Both are in deep trouble
The right wing of the GOP is dead

but, unfortunately, the democrats haven't done anything besides act as an "alternative" to that which is dead, but they are still too timid.. or too entrenched in corporate politics to take a real leadership roll and this leaves them incredibly vulnerable.

I have yet to see anything that is other than "not quite as bad" as the alternative.

Here is how I see it right now.

GOP = War, Drunken Spending, Abuse the middle/lower class

DEM = Less war, more controlled drunken spending, not as much abuse.

THAT is a forumula for a 3rd party candidate if I've ever seen it.

4. They're both in deep yogurt for exactly the same reason (or opposite reason if you prefer)
The Republican Party has been so thoroughly taken over by its right wing that it is far outside the mainstream of US voters, and it is losing membership.

At least here in California, for many years the Democratic Party has been losing members at about TWICE the rate that the GOP has been. The party is perceived IMO as being too controlled by our left wing.

The worst thing that could happen to us in 2008 IMO would be for the GOP as a whole to grow a brain and nominate a moderate. Giuliani is a force to be reckoned with. Make no mistake, I'm saying that if they nominated him he'd stand a good chance against any of our current front-runners.

But if history is a guide the GOP is presently too dumb to nominate somone in the real middle, and I'm afraid we are too.

6. He's trying to play the "moderate" card on all kinds of issues
And he is also running on his overall record managing NYC, which isn't too shabby.
