Clinton holds her own in Chicago
May 8, 2007
By Scott Fornek
Chicago Sun-Times

CHICAGO -- It may be his hometown and political power base, but Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton does not consider this Barack Obama Country.

That was the message the New York senator seemed intent on sending her Democratic presidential rival Monday, as she wrapped up an overnight Chicago visit that included a reception with big donors, breakfast with Obama-backer Mayor Daley and a meeting with more than 150 mostly African-American ministers.

"I am not ceding any voter, anywhere, to anyone," Clinton told reporters as she stood flanked by more than a dozen black ministers at the Palmer House Hilton. "I look forward to campaigning hard here in Chicago and Illinois."

N.H. lawmaker endorses Clinton
May 16, 2007

New Hampshire state Senate President Sylvia Larsen endorsed Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign yesterday.

Since Governor John Lynch has said he will not pick sides, at least for now, Larsen is the highest Democratic office holder in the state to make an endorsement.

In a conference call with reporters, Larsen said, her decision came down to one issue: trust.
"The bottom line is that I trust Hillary Clinton." Larsen said.
>

Larsen had said repeatedly that she wouldn't endorse any presidential candidate until the legislative session was over in July.
>
But after seeing Clinton on the trail in New Hampshire, Larsen said, she was "favorably impressed."

State Democrats back Clinton for president
Albany rally aims to send signals

By Tom Precious - NEWS ALBANY BUREAU
Updated: 05/16/07

ALBANY — Nearly four months after launching her presidential bid, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton received the formal endorsement of the state’s top Democratic officials Monday at a gathering mixed with boasts of her New York ties and stinging criticisms of the Bush White House.

Spitzer joined Sen. Charles E. Schumer, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo and a cross-section of state lawmakers, mayors and other elected Democrats in crowding the steps to cheer Clinton’s candidacy.

5. Actually she did not get many to come and she was born here. seems
like Obama still dominates the city and my state. Hillary got a few die hards. She has lost the Daileys who were important to the Clintons in the 90s. Guess we prefer our favorite son over her.

6. Actually, you should know Obama endorsed Daley..
when he was running for re-election in Jan/07' in lieu of two other candidates of color, who were deeply offended at not receiving Obama's support. A bit of hard feelings noted in the black community over Obama's defection in light of charges of corruption in City Hall.

And seeing Hillary is Illinois native daughter, I'm sure Mayor Daley expressed his dilemma at not supporting Hillary.
