1. If it mattered to me, I'd vote for conservatives because they hate change. |

2. It matters if it's a pattern based on political expedience. |
|
If someone changes their position on an item or two because they were "shone the light," so to speak, then, no, I don't have that much of a problem with it.
But, when someone starts apologizing for basically their whole voting record, then I see it as a weakness carved from political expedience.
We have one of those running in our camp, btw. Don't like him because of it.

4. Depends on the impetus causing the flip-flop. |
|
And that's going to have to be a good impetus indeed.
People ARE capable of growth and change. But it takes more than words.

it depends on the justification, which ideally would focus on a factual analysis of new information, at least new to the candidate. It should not have to do with trying to win a fucking primary.

8. It's a pablum issue for the dimwitted. |
|
You could just see the con man's smile on Bush every time he talked about Kerry flip-flopping. He knew it was being eaten up by the stupid marks. Flip-flopping is a cynical, name-calling, non-issue designed to make one-track-minded numbskulls like Bush look decisive and wise leaders look unsure.
