from the Politico:
In the number we were all waiting for, Edwards reported earning $479,512 as a senior advisor to Fortress Investment Group LLC last year.
In hedge fund terms, that's a tip; and even by the standards of the Edwards' investment income, it's a relatively small portion of his earnings.
Indeed, Edwards reported $5.9 million in investment income, to $1.2 million in earnings from a combination Fortress, from his book, and from speaking engagements at up to $40,000 per speech. (The earnings from the book, over $300,000, went to charity.)
And these investments? They include some money in Fortress funds, a series of more traditional mutual fund investments, bonds, and individual stocks. Some of his largest investments are in Goldman Sachs, Intel, and Novartis.
Others include Schlumberger, the oil services giant that Obama reported divesting from today because of the company's work in Sudan and the mining company Freeport-McMoRan.
