"There have been times when christian conservatives have been perceived as intolerant"
How's that for a spin sentence; carefully crafted by the right wing hate machine. Some fucking yahoo on NPR this morning blathering on about how falwell and his hateful intolerance may have had a negative effect on the gop by running off sane human beings.

1. Perceived? Wrong word - they ARE.
For starters, I don't go around telling Christians they are going to Hell for believing Jesus is sitting up in heaven next to God (or whatever), but they are quite quick to tell me I am for simply believing he was a great EARTHLY philosopher.

5. Yeah, and don't you love it when they come to your door to do that?
JESUS! (pun intended) ... How frickin' rude and arrogant! I want to tell them that of all the things I believe, faith that some dude 2,000 years ago was the only magical being in the 6 billion-year history of this little planet in an unimaginably vast universe is just about at the bottom of my list.

6. Statement from the EAC on the death of Jerry Falwell:
Edited on Thu May-17-07 10:58 AM by Zenlitened

"We mourn the passing of one of the most successful -- if unwitting -- spokesmen ever to advance the cause of our organization. Mr. Falwell did more to turn people away from Christianity, and religion in general, than any mere agenda-minded atheist could ever hope to achieve. Indeed, he helped make the very notion of an 'angry atheist' possible in the first place."

"Much work remains to be done if the EAC is to achieve Mr. Falwell's apparent goal, a goal we share, of reminding all Americans of the importance of the separation of church and state. We can only hope (but not pray) that a leader of similar stature, mean-spiritedness, and zeal for inflicting harm will step forward to continue alienating people of decency and conscience, all in the name of his or her version of god. Seriously. It makes our job so much easier."

"Thank you, and bwahahahahahaha."

Heath Sledgeson
President
The Evil Atheist Conspiracy

9. Just like Falwell's comments after 9/11...
I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.

CNN

He "apologized" for making these statements; but I doubt he was sorry he felt that way.

Just like There have been times when christian conservatives have been perceived as intolerant sounds like we were at fault if we "perceived them as intolerant." :grr:

10. I plead guilty
However I haven't perceived them being intolerant I have heard it with my two pretty good ears. Hate gays, liberals, secular humanists and democrats; come back to church next sunday and I'll give you another list of people to hate; and don't forget to tithe early and often. I no longer attend Mass.
