Wolfowitz and the Bush administration were seeking a face-saving deal with the board that would allow him to resign under his own terms and escape some blame for the furor involving his girlfriend’s compensation.

President Bush on Thursday seemed resigned to the possibility that World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz could lose his job over conflict-of-interest charges involving his girlfriend.

“I regret that it has come to this,” Bush said during a press conference for British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s final White House visit of his tenure as Prime Minister. “I admire Paul Wolfowitz ... I admire his focus on helping the poor.” Bush also said Wolfowitz has the bank’s best interests at heart.

1. Bonus paid whether or not Wolfowitz is connected with the World Bank June 1.
2. Clean record with no fault or demerits for anything he did or might have done.

The usual guideline in business is that one must avoid impropriety as well as the appearance of impropriety.
This clown would have been terminated for cause anywhere in corporate America.

at all. What is keeping them from firing his ass, he broke the rules? What right does he have to any compensation or face saving, does he have something on them, is breaking the rules ok with his contract?
