Poll question: which field of candidates do you prefer?
2004 - Kerry, Dean, Clark, Edwards, Kuninich, Joementum

2008 - Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Kucinich, Dodd

1. I was all about Dean.
Still am. I hope he attempts another run in the future.

The author did a good job of capturing him. (Yes, he was a good guy.)

3. I couldn't vote
the flame wars between the supporters of said candidates is driving me away from DU. I left high school (ahem) years ago and have no intention of going back via the Net with innuendo, half-truths, misinformation, lies and accusations hurled from one camp to the other and back again. It was exhausting then and it's damn near unbearable now!

5. Who is Joementum?
If you are referring to Biden, he did not run in 2004.

6. 2004 seemed much better to me.
You had at least two or three people that definitely emerged as leaders. This time around, we've got a bunch of has-beens, also-rans, and I'd-rather-not-think-abouts.

Talking about Kerry, Edwards, and Dean as front runners was a lot more interesting because you could feel any of them were viable. Even Gephardt and Clark could be taken fairly seriously.

Here's what we've got this year for leaders:

  • Hillary Clinton, who quite frankly seems utterly incapable of winning, due to the fact that most people have already formed their opinions of her and we've seen no signs that she can change those opinions.

  • John Edwards, who added nothing to the 2004 General Election as the VP nominee and hasn't done jack since then.

  • Barack Obama, who still has no record, has spent his very brief Senate tenure mostly staying out of controversy and not taking a stand on nearly anything. Have him call me in 2020.

Quite frankly, it's not surprising that so many here are still clamoring for Al Gore to run. I think he could make a huge splash in a largely uninspired field, for both parties.
