Daily Kos: "I'm So Tired of This I Could Eat Sawdust and Poop Two by Fours" |
|
Me too :) Edwards supporters and the DUers who love them should enjoy this diary: I'm So Tired of This I Could Eat Sawdust and Poop Two by Fours by nannyboz Thu May 17, 2007 at 02:25:46 PM EDT John Solomon, the RW smear machine, the talking heads, FAUX News, Ann Coulter... every one of these and more know everything! They truly have our best interests at heart! Really, they do! SNARK!
Short of doing a colonoscopy on John Edwards so that we can all be sure he doesn't have undisclosed polyps or, horrors! hemorrhoids, these "asses of evil" have done their best to convince us John Edwards is hiding something, he's up to no good, surely there must be some reason he is unfit to be our next president.
I'm sick of it. Oh, I know there will be alot more to come, but I'm sick of it.
Amazingly, the M$M (tough nuts if you hate that abbreviation) declines to provide coverage of the wonderful work John has done and is doing for those living in poverty. I don't see much mention of his work with the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity founded in 2004. Here's a little bit about the center, which John helped develop:

1. That kind of Fauxian crap has the opposite effect on me |
|
I don't care who the candidate is--if there's a continuous drumbeat of negative bullshit, it makes me examine the insulted candidate with a more favorably disposed eye.
It's the "He who protests too much" effect at work.
I'm holding off on any endorsement because I still hope Gore goes for it, but I find the 'dissing' of fellow Democrats really lame. It's horrible enough when Faux does it, worse still when I see it here.
I'd rather hear why a candidate is good, not why others are bad, frankly. I always wonder what the deal is, when people with a big huge banner for Candidate X run around tearing down Candidate Y?

3. When they do that, I assume they are being paid well by KKKarl. |

7. Well, ya gotta figure it's not their stated candidate who's paying them! |
|
Because it's just so...CHEESY. And it's really ineffective. I get the impression sometimes that it's designed not just to trash a candidate but to supress the vote overall; to bring out that "There's No Difference Between the Candidates" bullshit theme--the only thing is, the bozos doing it just aren't deft at all. Consequently, it makes me all the more determined to head to the polls and drive a hundred or so of my closest friends to the polls as well!

9. It's almost like it's done not only to hurt the target of the attack, but |
|
also make the candidate purportedly supported look bad also, like THEY might be behind the attacks.
Rovian nonsense, IMHO.
If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all. If you have specific facts to lay out, fine. Then let people decide what to make of them. But the attack politics are bad news and just make the attacker look EXTREMELY REPUBLICAN.

10. I agree with everything you've said. |

It does seem like a clumsy smear attempt, these "advocacy by dissing" efforts. It's just so hamhanded and stupid though, it only serves to irritate. It does make me pay closer attention to the candidate being insulted. But then, I'm a contrarian sometimes...!

I loved this part:
"The press loves to ignore John Edwards or worse, try to paint him in a bad light. They don't like him, they don't understand him, they fear what they don't understand and so when they do cover his campaign, its negative. Does this abuse of their purported mission, to be unbiased, not bug the living jeebus out of everyone here? I'm proud to support a good and decent man, a brilliant, hard-working, kind individual who cares about others and about his country. I'll do everything I can to help him become our next president, the M$M be damned."
They really do fear him....hummm, wonder why? Perhaps he will bring transparency back to the WH? Or, he'll be doing such great things, they won't be taking any glee over what has been referred as the living hell we have been in for the last six years? Fear and scandal sell, decency, integrity and honor do not. I can't wait until he's sworn in..:)

6. You must read hotline. They have an analysis of why the msm is doing it |
|
and somethings Edwards needs to do to avoid. The ending says that it has not cut into his numbers and democrats are not listening to it.
