This is Thomasin Franken, Al's daughter. That's me in the picture. I'm grown up now, but as far back as I can remember, birthdays were a lot of fun around our house - with lots of friends, lots of cake, and lots of laughs.

I'm writing because May 21 is my dad's 56th birthday, and I'm hoping you'll help me put together a great present.

My brother Joe and I were so excited when Dad decided he was going to run for the Senate. He'll be a great Senator for the same reasons he's a great father - he always leads on his values, he's fair and honest, and he works hard to do what's right.

And I know he's having a great time on the campaign trail. He's always telling us about all the new friends he's meeting everywhere he goes and how inspired and encouraged he is by all the support he's getting.

So, when it came time to think of a birthday present for Dad, I knew exactly what to do. But I'm going to need your help.

I'm hoping to collect 1,000 names of people who support my dad and are willing to help me wish him a happy birthday by contributing $56 (he's turning 56!) to his campaign!

Usually, I give my dad a tie or a CD for his birthday. But this year, I'm hoping I can give him a card with the names of 1,000 friends who have supported his campaign the way he and Mom always supported me and Joe growing up. And, of course, what's a birthday card without a little cash inside?
