If a "Top Tier" Dem came out in support of the Blowback argument...would it help or hurt them? |
|
I just got finished posting a blog entry over at Barack Obama's site in support of him coming out in support of the Blowback argument. Then I got to thinking, knowing the Dem base is nothing like the Rethug base when it comes to issues like this...the only thing I can see happening if Edwards, Clinton, or Obama came out in support is character assassination is the media. I can't fathom them being hurt in the polls or abroad in the primaries....if anything it would help them!!

1. It is true. It's therefore a moral obligation |

... and it's also essential to reverse the aggressive agenda built up since Reagan and brought to (near-??)fruition by W & Co.
A US addicted to violence and in denial of its consequences in degrading the foundations of global human coexistence and tolerance is a US ripe for a warmongering GOP.
If Democrats want to break the cycle of hatred and xenophobia that sustains today's Republicans, they need to attack its founding assumptions.
The Clear Blue Sky is one of them. It wasn't. 911 was a long time in the making.

2. You mean tell the truth? |

For starters, they would gain my respect which none of them have to this point. I would then add that they would have resolved any question about wether they are sincere about ending our OCCUPATION. For me it would be a BIG feather in their cap. I sure hope the question comes up in some debate so I can watch our STARS weazel out of answering it.

but I strongly doubt it. One doesn't get annointed as a top-tier candidate by the Pentagon-controlled media unless he can be counted on to perpetuate and expand the Warfare State.
Let's hope at least that Ron Paul inspires Kucinich and Gravel to out-Ron Paul Ron Paul on the all important issues of the Military Industrial Complex, War, Empire, and the decades of mass murder that the US has on its hands.
But nearly the entire U.S. population is compromised and feeding at the trough of the Military Industrial Complex in one way or another. They know sub-consciously that they're jobs either directly or indirectly depend on constant fear of attacks from monsters at home and constant expansion of U.S. mass murder abroad. The Warfare State is nearly a 1 trillion dollar per year jobs program for rednecks, white collar techocrats, and pragmatic liberals just trying to make a living in the New American Century. How much of this can a Kucinich or a Ron Paul propose to dismantle without shrieks of anguish from the U.S. citizenry which is completely compromised and on the dole?

That's very well put.
