Specter: Gonzales Will Likely Resign
--

It's put up or shut up time for the Repubs in Congress if this vote happens because '08 is looming. ha ha

AG is Bush's last defense,
When he leaves it will get even more interesting indeed.

Specter: Gonzales Will Likely Resign Before No Confidence Vote

Last week, Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Charles Schumer (D-NY) called on the Senate to hold a no-confidence vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The White House and its conservative allies quickly derided the vote, calling it “nothing more than a meaningless political act.” This morning on Fox News Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called it a “gotcha game.”

But on CBS’s Face the Nation, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) underlined the importance and seriousness of the vote, calling it a “rare” and “very forceful, historical statement.” He predicted that “before the vote is taken that Attorney General Gonzales may step down.”

4. Goonzales isn't going anywhere.
Friday's WH statement was basically a "you have to impeach him to get him out". Its been said before, and it makes sense to me, that the WH doesn't want a new confirmation hearing for a new AG - which would become a referendum on the bad actions of the DOJ - all before the next election cycle.

5. Monica Goodling gets her boyfriend a job as Assistant US Attorney..
On my website I’ve exposed Monica Goodling and her boyfriend/Assistant US Attorney for Virginia Richard Parker (with 4 pictures)…. (she most likely got him the job)

Its already been reported that the US Attorney for Western Virginia, John Brownlee, was the FIRST name on the list of 5 possible candidates for firing ……

… Perhaps it would be pertinent to ask how Goodling’s boyfriend got the job as Assistant U.S. Attorney in Virginia… and perhaps it might be a good time to figure out why the US Attorney from Virginia (a battleground state) was put on the termination list….

6. I'm on the fence.
I think that there is a very good chance that gonzo will resign. He's nothing but a lightning rod for the opposition. But, there is no way the bushies want a conformation hearing on a new AG. Who could they possibly offer up? A toady won't get confirmed & there's too much danger in nominating an independent, qualified person who would have to investigate the whole ashcroft, card, gonzo hospital visit.

I think I'll go with resigning. The WH could just offer up toady after toady & when the Senate fails to confirm say that the Dems are obstructionists & aren't interested in the country, only in playing politics.
