Obama's Wife: 'It's His Time
http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Story?id=3194026&page=1

Despite questions about the country's readiness for a black president, Barack Obama will win the race for the 2008 White House if he connects with Americans, his wife Michelle Obama told "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts in her first major morning television interview.

"I think that the American people ... are ready to have somebody that they can believe in and that they can connect to," Obama said in an interview that begins Tuesday. "And I think that if Barack does what he's supposed to do and this campaign is ... run well, and he can be clear and articulate in his message, ... he'll be the next president of the United States and ... we will be swearing him in in '08."

Watch the two-part interview which begins on Tuesday only on "Good Morning America."

Michelle Obama contends that Americans want a new approach to politics that only her husband can offer.

"I think that people are tired," she said. "They're tired of ... the same old kind of politics. People want a new tone to politics. People want to feel hopeful. People are tired of the fear-mongering. And Barack is really the only candidate, in my view, in this race at this time who offers that approach."

1. I certainly hope so.
As an Illinois resident, I know quite a lot about Obama. If not this time (and I hope it is), one day he will be president.

3. the thing that strikes me about Barack
is how level headed he is. He has strong views but he also respects those who disagree with him. For example he is solidly pro choice, but he understands how people might believe that a fetus is alive, even if he doesn't agree.

This would be a welcome change from the "my way or the highway" leadship infecting the WH right now.

6. Why is it "his" time in particular?
I agree that the country is ready for a black president. But why this black man? A two year senator light on experience; he's just too random.

7. "Black president"? "Black man"?
Are these two *qualifications* really necessary?

8. I was replying to the report given in the OP - Michelle is saying that America...
is ready for a black President, which I agree with. The headline of the OP though, about it being "his time" (meaning Obama's) I still don't see an answer to. Every candidate has issues this time ("issues" meaning "problems.") To my mind, perhaps Obama's biggest issue is the question, why him, why now?

10. Obama needs to keep a lid on wifey comments, leave the spotlight on Barack
there's plenty of time to properly introduce her to this nation.
