How to protest the do-nothing democratic politicians.... |
|
It seems that the only possibility of reaching "our" politicians is to send a message that they cannot avoid. The question is - what could that message be? 1) Threatening to withhold financial support does not seem to work because they rely so much on and respond only to corporate donations. 2) Threatening to vote third party or no one means nothing - they "know" we have little choice. 3) Contacting their offices does not seem to produce anything, either. So...... How about changing your voter registration from Democratic to Independent? Right now! Once primary season is over, changing your affiliation will not prevent you from voting (or not) in November for whomever you want but will send an immediate message that we are not happy with their behavior. If your state has a closed primary, you could wait until it is over. Right now, I cannot think of another way to express my disgust with the way the non-opposition party has been acting.

this point in time, it would be a purely symbolic gesture. But maybe, just maybe, one that they might pay attention to. Imagine the news reports of some percentage of Democrats changing their registration. Could they ignore that being hyped on the corporate news 24/7? Granted, they would probably simply say thay people are venting and will have no choice opther than to pull the "D" lever in November. But, at this point, SOMETHING has to be done to let the DC-Dems know that there is a limit to our patience. Or, is there?

3. Realistically the Democrats have done all they can do |
|
The constant fighting over the war and hearings is apparently not impressing the public.
The Congressional Approval Rating is 29%. Lower than Bush. The Senate has not passed any of the Promoises Made During Campaign. Democratic Failurer is on the Cable News Programs daily. Selling out to Corporate Interest and giving WH the job of writing the Trade Policy. This makes the Public even madder. Then jump into a hot button issue like Immigration.
If we lose the next election--thank our Corporate Dems.
There are many more issues than war.
They had better learn to walk and chew gum simultaneously.

8. Just Got Off The Phone - Put In Calls To Pelosi, Durbin, Obama and Lipinski...... |
|
and expressed disappointment in this War Funding Bill outcome giving Bush another win. I told them that Bush has approximately 600 days left in office and at an average of 3 U.S. soldiers dying a day - that will be another 1800 or so deaths boosting the total over 5000. And for what. A criminal administration and an occupation of a country mired in a civil war.
I told them that the Dems just lost my vote for 08 and I'm changing my party affiliation to that of Independent.
Can't vote Repug and can't vote Dem. I hope that an Independent runs that is REALLY opposed to this war - and not one just giving it lip service for another term.
I had to leave a message on both Pelosi's and Obama's line - they are experiencing a large call volume.
I urge you all to do the same.
It's time we let them know.

12. Perhaps you have a magic vote production machine available... |

Granted, the Democrats didn't have the votes to stop the war today...perhaps you have a magic wand that you've patented that makes votes fly out of your arse. Please let us know...
