The empty Obama - against Iraq war and nothing else
Edited on Tue May-22-07 05:11 PM by quinnox
Obama is a one note candidate, great he was against the Iraq war, but has little substance beyond that. Obama is an empty vessel for people to put their hopes and dreams but avoids taking a stand on other substantive issues. Obama is afraid to lay out some hard stands on issues for fear of offending one of the groups he is depending on that believe in the dream of Obama. The dream is not the same as the reality. Obama is mostly hype and not much "beef"

"where is the beef?" As the old famous commercial asked.

Obama seems to have a great audacity in running for president but seems to be a media created phenomenon just because he is a black candidate who can put together a good sentence and speech and is acceptable to the mainstream America. "Oh look, Obama is just like one of us!" says mainstream America. I don't think this is much to base a candidate for the presidency on. When you look deeper at Obama it is kind of hollow.

5. oh the racism card
Yes anyone who doesn't like Obama must be a racist. Just like anyone who doesn't like Hillary hates women. Uh huh.

6. I thinkit was the "black...who can string together a good sentence"
to paraphrase, that some might find offensive. If you don't want your post to be construed as racist, you might want to reword that.

These kinds of baseless (and should I say racist) attacks against ANY of the Democratic candidates should not be tolerated.

Obama can do it and that's why he's been succesful?

Edited on Tue May-22-07 05:34 PM by quinnox
Jesse Jackson was very eloquent but Obama seems to appeal more to the mainstream with his words and speeches. This isn't some kind of revelation I came up with, it has been in stories about Obama.

21. Disgraceful
and sad, really. Obama is a very serious person with not an evil bone in his body, and our party is blessed to have him. At 45 years of age, he will have many years to show you just how misguided about him you are. Don't be too proud to apologize when the realization sets in.

23. I am not saying
you are a racist but using the particular sentence in question would certainly lead me to believe you have some problems with Obama's race. If you don't "get it" then you are either living in a cave or incredibly naive.

26. What are you afraid of?
It seems that you are afraid of change for the better. If you paid attention to what Barack Obama is saying, you would realize what his stance on the issues are and his vision for this country requires detail and thought. This man possess this quality. Sure, he can go out and give "rehearsed" answers, sound bites, be a corporate/lobbyist whore(i.e. Clinton) giving answers to satisfy you thirst for immediate gratification but aren't you a little tired of that. This has been the theme in politics for decades and every four years Americans buy into that. Barack Obama is offering you change. A chance to become empowered as an american citizen and allow you to bring this country back to what it should be: a safe place you and your family, jobs, educational opportunities that will rival other countries, a foreign policy that gives back our creditability around the world and allow others around the world to participate in the word politic and make it better for all. This requires thought, not stubbornness, a plan, not rushing into a war for control of oil revenues telling the Iraqi people "YOU OWE US" for the rest of their lives and allowing americans to look at that county as a lesser equivalent to the U.S. (that's one reason why we have no support worldwide) and most important, REAL COMPASSION, not the line that been used for the past 7.5 years.

In conclusion, I ask again "what are you afraid of?" If you feel that fear is your friend which keeps you from making a change to this country for the better, so be it, but if you exercise a little courage to see the broader picture for this country that Obama is giving us instead of the same old rhetoric, jump on board. The problems that this country faces requires thoughtfulness, not brute force, a plan, not stubbornness or passing the buck, absolving all of accountability/ responsibility. A carefully thought out, plan with processes that works. Think about it.

27. In response to the wording of my post
Edited on Tue May-22-07 06:16 PM by quinnox
After some consideration I realize how it could be viewed in an incorrect interpretation, however I am unable to edit it now because the time has expired.

What I would say instead is Obama is a charismatic black man who can give an inspiring speech that appeals to the mainstream and this is one important reason the media loves to cover him.

I regret if my wording led to an incorrect impression.

29. Reminds me of what Limbaugh said about Donovan McNabb
The comments referenced by Limbaugh came during Sunday's pregame show when the conservative talk show host offered the opinion that McNabb wasn't as good as the media perceived him to be.

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."
