Drown in your attic or bleed to death on your 3rd tour. It`s all OK.
Apparently there is nothing George Bush can do or not do that registers high enough on the outrage meter to force Congressional leaders to act in this country`s best interest. Nothing. Not the hideous neglect after Hurricane Katrina, not the sickening bloodbath in Iraq, not the political highjacking of the Department of Justice, not the near destruction of our military readiness, not the secret torture prisons, not the heave-ho of every reasonable scientific theory, not the horde of unaccountable private mercenaries in Iraq, not the obscene national debt, not the millions of outsourced jobs, not even the thousands of homeless citizens. Nothing.

We`ve been trained to respond with respectful applause and sizeable donations if our representatives so much as grunt in the direction of the microphone. Add a few American flags and the promise of killin` the killers, and we have an instant hit. Maybe a sound bite on Hardball. For some reason, we`ve given up the in-depth stuff in favor of whatever fits into short segements. Why get bogged down with details? It`s not substance that matters, it`s the appearance of substance.

I don`t care how many multi-millionaire newsreaders try to make regular old John Doe look stupid for sitting in his representative`s office with an IMPEACH THE SOB sign. Chances are, Brian Williams` offspring won`t lose their hands in Iraq like the blue collar kid I know did. And, when your husband heads out the door for his third Iraq tour, isn`t it time to start asking questions about Bush`s "making progress" milestones? Or would that be aiding the enemy?

How much more carnage must the world endure before someone in Washington demands accountability?
Haven`t we had enough lip service and make-believe tough talk? How many more press conferences will we sit through where we`re told about holding Bush`s feet to the fire, only to see some "leader" tip-toe around with a bipartisan squirt bottle? Dead bodies piling up all around George Bush`s policies and our goal is a compromise? Sometimes I just can`t hold back. This is one of those times. Democrats should grab Bush by the shirt collar and start twisting. Give him a choice....start listening or else.

I have seldom been as discouraged and depressed as I am now...to realize I don't live in a democracy anymore. I live in an oligarchy.

The three branches of government thing...that's all just for show. It means nothing. The figurehead king and the people who pull his strings can do whatever they want. It's their country...I just live in it.

I'm not even supposed to care. If I'm a good little citizen, I'll just shut up and watch the finale of American Idol.

On edit: "Oligarchy" is optimistic. "Kleptocracy" is more like it, with a heavy dose of kakistocracy. Or maybe that should be caca-stocracy.

3. Don't forget his blatant declaration of imperial rule
I don't have a link (I'm sure someone here will be obliging), but he recently issued a direct that would "allow" him to assume sole control of all three branches of government "in the event of an emergency."

And the only sound from Congress was a lone cricket.

4. A "lone cricket" sounds about right.
GWB: We now have several secret torture prisons.

CONGRESS: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

GWB: I make my own laws.

CONGRESS: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

GWB: We`ll give a few AIDS dollars to Africa, but tell them, no money if anyone uses condoms.

CONGRESS: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
