Dems @ Fed Level, use influence to beat down Impeachment Initiatives
Edited on Wed May-23-07 12:14 PM by Cults4Bush
I think the following article shows that many of us are probably not welcome in the big tent anymore. These kinds of tactics might work when the stakes are more domestic and less largely looming on the life or death front, but this is digusting.

http://www.baltimorechronicle.com/2007/052207Lindorff.shtml

"So far, Democrats in Congress and at the top of the party hierarchy, out of touch with public sentiment and worried that impeachment could hurt them with "independents"--whom they mistakenly consider to stand somehow "in between" Democrats and Republicans--have been following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's vow that for the 110th Congress, "impeachment is off the table." They've been doing more than that: they have been actively working to tamp down, and even to crush, impeachment campaigns in the states.

For example, in the state of Washington, an effort to get the state to pass a joint legislative resolution which would have compelled the Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings was derailed after the Democratic leadership dispatched two of the state's leading federal elected officials, Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Jay Inslee, to press legislative leaders to block a floor vote. Similar pressure doomed efforts that might have passed in the legislatures of New Mexico and Vermont (The Vermont Senate did pass the resolution)."

Read the whole article... that is a huge carrot to be shoving up the collective ass of your activist base. Especially after the capitulation of funding.
I know many modern "moderate" dems (who would actually be moderate Repubs 7 years ago) think everything is going pretty much ok with this kind of strong arming but once word gets out that top level dems are actively sabotaging the grassroots base regarding impeachment, this party will split and you will have none to blame but your fucking bullying ass arrogant cold calculating compassionless win at any cost selves.. no indie or green party to blame for all your fucking miseries on this one... (and are you even aware of how close to the repubs constant Bill and Hil bashing it sounds?).

Tout your arguments of anti impeachment all you want but when you do this to keep your base in line, youve already lost them.

sick sick sick.

on edit: clarity in subject line

1. "Impeachers"?
Right, you mean like Junior's "I'm the 'decider'" and "suiciders".

5. Alliteration
"Impeachers" as in "suiciders" "decider" - and the fact that the latter two words were made up by Commander Codpiece.

13. Did you post this in General Discussion also? Maybe you should.
That section seems to get more exposure. Giving you an R because this is HUGE.

17. There was one in GD the other day but...
it was capitulation day and got missed by many. I went with GDP because its slower moving hoping that peopel such as yourself would still find it:)

Nothing wrong with doing another GD post though! Id love to see a post asking the anti impeachment types to defend these actions. Im sure theyd have some very interesting excuses.

I too think it is incredibly huge... on top of the trade bill, the funding bill and now the secret vote... no wonder impeachment is off the table its screw the base time in the democratic party.

16. Right, it's one thing to say it's off the table,
it's another thing to sabotage grassroots democratic movements by We the People. WTF, Pelosi? Seems like she's been eating pretzels and drinking kool-aid.
