I Have A Very SMALL Suggestion Or Idea About How We As Democrats Can |
|
show our displeasure with the House & Senate. I realize it's a bit radical and it may also be detrimental, but it IS something I myself am going to do. As soon as I find the link, email or phone number to the Democratic Congressional Committee & the Democratic Senatorial Committee.
I'm ALWAYS getting phone calls AND letters asking me to DONATE to these groups. I want to contact them and tell them to REMOVE MY NAME from their list because I simply WON'T be donating to them because I feel they bailed on us!
Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
Personally I would love a REVOLUTION, but doubt that will ever get off the ground, so I just feel they understand the NEED for money, and I don't want to give them anymore!
I'll stick with Howard Dean for now... but don't want to be bothered by the others. I don't have the time right now to look up the information because I have to cook din-din, but I was wondering what others might think.
I know it's a bit lame, but I can't think of much else right now!

1. Yes, but with a message. |
|
And that message is: You are NOT supporting the troops by funding this war!!! I just saw Rep Moran (D-VA) insist that this "war funding" bill MUST BE PASSED to SUPPORT THE TROOPS :wtf:.
WRONG! Stop funding this insane war UNLESS our Idiot King accepts *the deadlines* for pull-out. Keep sending this bill back until we make this EVIL MAN SUBMIT.
Is anyone else "sick to death" of The Unitary Executive always getting his way?
It's time to take a stand Democratic Representatives OR ELSE we will *all* vote for your primary challengers in the next election. <--- That's a promise. :grr:

4. I kinda agree with Moran |
|
That a funding bill must be passed to support the troops BUT NOT THIS BILL. I want a bill passed that will get us out of Iraq kinda like the previos bill.

Edited on Wed May-23-07 05:32 PM by ShortnFiery
The troops get a very tiny segment of these billions upon billions of dollars.
STOP FUNDING THIS INSANE WAR = BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!
We are only making the Military Industrial Complex even more BLOATED by passing this bill without *deadlines* for pulling out of these hell holes, i.e., Afghanistan and Iraq.
Tell me = are you going to send your children in the years to come?
I'm NOT!!! :grr:

|
If they want to join up the military if they want to go that's there decsion but i'll beg them not to go, does that answer your question? and i'm not going to give my answer on funding the war if you don't mind.

|
let them sign up for Military Service today. That's a promise! But - thank goodness they don't want to join up. ;)
You want to see your kids SICK, with PTSD, missing limbs or DEAD ... then by all means ===> let them join the BushBotBorg Military of the 21st Century. :grr:

11. I did it during Saint Reagan's era - four years during the early 80s. |
|
Besides, those who go in the service as Enlisted members barely get by, i.e., many members with family are on food stamps.
It was an honor serving when we were in "a cold war" but under such insane and, IMO, blood thirsty leadership, I would not wish Military Service (officer or enlisted) on my worst enemy. :scared:
It's a harsh existence during peacetime and from my older brother's stories of Vietnam (1968) service in the paratroopers (101st) it's literally HELL ON EARTH serving during wartime.
As difficult as it is to believe, our leaders NOW are worse than during the Vietnam Era. Please don't forget that ole' Rummy purged all but the "spring butt" General Officers from The Pentagon.
Nope, don't let your buddies and family members serve NOW ... military service today is, at best, austere. :(

Sadly that's not possible because my best friend Kris is serving there as a SEAL. You have to understand short n fiery he comes from a strong military family that would take bullets for their country and the U.S Military on top of him his brother Jeremy served in Iraq, his did served in vietnam and his grandfather served in WWII.

My father was Battlefield Commissioned (was a SFC) during WWII and maintained that commission until he retired at 20 years service from the Combat Engineers. I've had relatives serving back to the Civil War (for The North) and both my Brother and I served in the Army.
No family is more proud of their military service than mine.
HOWEVER, I'd encourage your friend to extract himself from SEALS as soon as possible. Forgive me for being a realist but, with enough deployments the odds are he'll end up either maimed or dead.
IMO, this is NOT an honorable war. I would resign my regular army commission if I were on Active Duty today.
Best wishes to your friend but he's serving in a time where we are being ruled by incompetent and blood thirsty leaders who are ABUSING our troops.
My family LOVES the Military and we are all (my husband is retired USMC) proud to have served our country. However, we love The Constitution MORE. :patriot:

15. Well, as soon as he can. The troops are being overextended and will soon burn out. |
|
Even the STRACK units like The SEALS, Special Forces and Rangers are NOT Machines. They need at least a full year of R & R between deployments. Further, after about 3 -4 combat deployments, we may be pushing the limits of human endurance.
It's understood that SEALS are arguably, the toughest humans in existence. I admire their intelligence and training but please also know - they still are human beings.

17. I Was An Army Brat Until I Left Home At 18! Lived At Ft. Hood, TX |
|
for a very long time. Actually graduated from Killeen High School and go back for Class Reunions all the time. Killeen was not a fun place to live. They ALWAYS treated the military like shit, but there would NEVER have been a Killeen had it not been for Ft. Hood!
And I swore I would NEVER marry anyone in the military. And my father was THE GREATEST! He was such a gentle wonderful soul and I miss him very much. He introduced me to politics at a very young age and I've been a Democrat since I was 11! But in the end the Army wasn't good to him because he was FORCED to retire after he had a major heart attack. They only wanted to give him 50% pay but he fought them and got his 100%
I actually married very young to keep my husband from getting drafted and we are still together today! That is pretty strange to say the least, because I had just turned all of 18 years old and had made plans to go to college! Oh well, once again... things happen for a reason!

3. I think it's a decent idea |

Let them know if there not going to come up with decent spending bills w/teeth that they get no money from us.
Hell even not for the spending bill I wouldn't donate to the DCCC/DSCC I don't trust them, they always support the crappy candidates people like us don't like (remember the Ilinois Congressional seat vacated by Henry Hyde) and who knows where your money goes when you donate to these people. In my opinion if you want to donate to a certain lawmaker or candidate, do it through there own sites so you know where money's going.
But donating to the DNC seems allright since we all trust the guy who's running it.

for sure. I'm sick of getting screwed over and over! And since it seems that money is the only thing that makes them sit up and listen, perhaps we could make a statement at the very least!

8. Only give to DNC since Alito filibuster and the Kerry-Feingold withdrawal vote |
|
made it even more painfully clear that certain Dems influencing the party hierarchy have kept their powder dry for their own power trips, not the good of the American people or the Dem party overall.
