So What's The Verdict - Did Monica Goodling Ice Gonzo Today?........
It seems to me one of the most damming things to come out today is that she had a meeting with Gonzo before she left the DOJ. Both knew she was subject to be called to testify at these hearings. Gonzo already testified on this issue. Both are lawyers and they should know better that they should have no contact with each other given the circumstances - yet they met and they talked. The insinuation was made that Gonzo may have tried to influence her testimony - either by explaining himself or talking about how he recalled the facts. She testified today that she was uncomfortable in this situation. But again - they both are lawyers and they should know of the impropriety of such an encounter. This is the top justice department in the land - and what they did was violate a principle of Law 101.

You gotta believe that there is a lot more to this story than we're being told.

1. He tried to tell her "the truth" if you know what I mean......
The truth is ... (fill in the fiction and bullshit that you want the person to repeat). And then, you tell them to tell "the truth."

It's what mobsters do.

If anyone asks, you say "Well, he told me to tell 'the truth' is all..."

2. McNulty and Gonzales tried to make her the scapegoat
and she turned the tables on them. I predict she will rethink her party affiliation very soon.

Yes, Monica you can be a Christian and a Democrat. And, yes, we appreciate hearing the truth even when it casts shadows on our guys. We don't claim to be perfect. And, guess what, as a Democrat you won't have to pretend to be perfect either. You can just be the best you can be, and Democrats will love you for who you are.

Monica did Gonzales in -- and McNulty -- said they lied, said Gonzales saw a list of the attorneys, said she did not prepare the list, said she thinks that Gonzales and I think also McNulty went to the White House about the firings.

I think that after Monica's testimony, the only possible place of origin of the attorney lists is the White House. Of course, somme third source could come to light, but I doubt it.

Monica also pretty much admitted that at some point she knew that Griffin had to do with the caging lists and that, before McNulty's testimony before Congress, she suggested to McNulty that was a problem or something he might tell Congress. Monica seemed to be making a special effort to get the caging list information out there before anyone could really ask her about it. I did not hear all of the testimony, but unless I missed it, I don't think any of the representatives followed through about the caging lists. Either they already know everything they want to know about them or they are not ready to deal with that issue yet -- or they just missed the opportunity.

Monica also seemed to be preparing a defense to a charge of intimidation of witnesses based on threats to the fired attorneys that the Justice Department would have to say "bad things" about them if the attorneys complained publicly about their firing. A couple of times she mentioned that the Justice Department did not want to have to say "bad things" about its former employees who had served the Department. That sounds to me like she was trying to put a very bad fact in a good light. Been there, done that. That seems pretty important to me. It is going to be interesting to test her claim about not wanting to say "bad things" about the attorneys against the recollections of the fired attorneys about the warnings they received about going public.

3. "Both are lawyers and they should know better"
Yeah, but she went to that law school that emphasizes the Falwell interpretation of Leviticus instead of the courts' interpretation of the U.S. Code.

5. Ah, but Regent is Harvard and Yale's "successor"
according to Steve King (R-Dumbass)

Yes, he said it today. Harvard was established by Puritans, Yale by Calvanists. Regent by Pat Robertson, so that makes it Harvard and Yale's successor.
