otherwise it would undermine his candidacy fatally because it is almost wholly based on the anti-Iraq war position. Obama has to vote no IMHO otherwise he is no longer viable as a candidate.

Clinton is more interesting, I could see her voting either way. Both choices have strengths and weaknesses for her. I would say her voting no is more probable but voting yes is not out of the question.

1. But with absolutely no record of the vote itself, who can say?
Perhaps the whole point of this Cheneyesque maneuver is so that the candidates can vote for it without having to worry about the fallout.

2. I didn't know about that
If it's going to be a secret vote then it doesn't matter which way they vote.

3. The problem is that HE is not certain
A real leader would have stood up at the very beginning and said how he was going to vote. As far as I am concerned you can now put Obama and Hillary in the same basket.

8. I don't mind that Obama wanted to read the bill first...
But I just hope the OP is correct. I just think back to when he took a stand against the Military Commissions Act and voted against the 1st Patriot Act...and hope he can show the same fortitude this time around. I really like Obama...and don't want to see him fail. But voting for this bill could potentially make him look contradictory on the Iraq position.

Does anyone know when this is even being voted on?

6. Did you guys watch Gore on Larry King?
He was asked about it and he said he hadn't read the bill but he trusted Reid and Pelosi. I am a total Gore fan and was surprised by the way he didn't say since he is against the war not to vote for it. He mostly talked about how Bush put us in a lose/lose place and there was no easy answers anymore. I agree with that but still think they shouldn't have let Bush win the chicken contest. I think if they had stuck it out a few more times Bush would have backed down...

7. Poor guy - I saw him on C-Span 2 today.
He was so tired he couldn't talk.

Hard decision when you are running for Prez.

All I can hope is that he votes from his heart, not from the pressure on both sides.

12. Biden's blog is the same
Except Biden sticks to his word.. dammit.
The one thing I liked about him is the one thing that is putting me back into the undecided column.
