I've worked for Obama for some time now, and those of you who know me know I'm a pretty mainstream party Dem. You know, DNC, DSCC, CA Cent Com, Assembly delegate, DFA steering committee, etc etc..

If Obama votes for this funding bill, I'm resigning. Going to work for someone else. Thus far, my telephone says about 33-40% of the campaign I know will do the same.

Are we on the margin with this?

I don't think you're in the margin on this. Obama needs to know.

Hate to admit it, but I'm still undecided who I'm getting on the bus for. But the votes on this Bush War Funding will factor in. It's an easy "no" for every candidate and they should take the opportunity.

4. Well, I have seen a lot of people post that Hillary used to be on the board of WalMart
and the wanted her to say she was wrong. Since Obama's wife was found to be on the board, and because of the public outcry she resigned, I have not heard one voice in protest.

Is Hillary held to a higher standard than anyone else in this country. If she votes yes and Obama votes yes will she get the shaft and they ignore Obama's vote. Probably.

If Obama and Clinton both vote "yes," some here will find a way to give Obama a pass but give Clinton the shaft.

Edited on Thu May-24-07 12:05 PM by madfloridian
For the first time, I am thinking about stopping my monthly payments to the DNC. And all the extras in between for special stuff. (I just stopped them)

Guess none of it matters anyway.

I have called, emailed congresspeople about this funding bill. I have tried to see a good side to it. I don't. It is going to allow such things a Fallujah style attack on Sadr City...with 2 million people.

Stopped our donations.

10. Hi there Capn!
Just chill-out for a week or so........Just remember, this is "Politics". I know how you feel as when Sharrod Brown voted for the Habeas Corpus Bill, I too was livid! I had to meet in 1 week later... face-face...:banghead:

I got over it.....or probably focused on the bigger picture/vision I for November 06 for the Democratic takeover over. So, chill out before cutting out.

I am sure when he is president/vice president he will have to make difficult and unpopular decisions. Nobody is perfect and circumstances dictate the response!

Seems to me we need to focus on the best candidate possible to win the election as our highest priority!

Edited on Thu May-24-07 11:25 AM by Connie_Corleone
I can't support him. I hope he votes NO. It's the right thing to do. The Democrats can't go around fearing being labeled "not supporting the troops" when it comes to ending this war.

Sometimes you just have to do what's right, even if it might hurt you politically. And that's a big IF.

18. I don't believe you are. It is time to stand up and be counted.
My preferred pick hasn't entered the race yet, and if he does he gets 1000% of my support, but Obama is the one I am leangin towards at the moment. But if he doesn't stand up and vote AGAINST this bill, and the continuation of this goddamned war I will have to look at another candidate...As we already know HRC's record that leaves me with a very thin field to pick from...

21. I'm not a blind party follower...
I mean, I like and support Obama and everything...but I'm with the OP on this one. If Obama votes for this bill, I'm not supporting him for a while. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind down the road though. But we need leaders who will stand up in spite of the critism's they may face...not Bend Over Dems.

I'm not a one issue voter.

Neither am I. I like Obama for a variety of reasons...but I'm also a person with integrity and morals. This bill is atrocious and should never be passed. If Obama supports this, I'm going to have to reevaluate my support for HIM.

but this is a tough vote, and we don't have the foresight to see how all of this will shake out six months or a year from now. So I'll trust his judgment for now.

26. I'm being facetious
Getting us in and getting us out are two different issues, and I'm not inclined to vote for anyone who voted to get us in. Emotionally manipulative rhetoric of the kind specialized in by one candidate doesn't count for much.

33. This is why I haven't signed
on with any candidate yet. I want to see how all of this plays out. Perhaps this is just political theater, which bothers me a lot since people's lives are at stake. Maybe there will be a plot twist in the thrid act and all of this will make sense to me. Right now I'm pretty frustrated.

35. were you on the bus when he voted for the "timetable" bill?
That bill provided funding for the war and essentially approved keeping troops in Iraq through March. If that was ok, why is it so much worse to support a bill that provides funding through September. Why not wait to see how things turn out in September before making up your mind?

36. I'm off the bus... for the primaries...
at this point ANY Democrat voting to continue this war has earned a one way pass to idiotsville IMO.

I will not vote for him in the Primaries and then when it comes to the General we'll see who is left.

I get the feeling though the American Public will be pretty damn sick of people going against their collective will to vote for this and will take a much harder look at those who vote against it.
