What do you think?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's unremorseful former top aide should be sentenced to 2 1/2 to 3 years in prison for perjury and obstruction of justice in a case linked to the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war, the special prosecutor in the case said on Friday.

Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff, was convicted in March on four of five counts in the investigation into who blew the cover of CIA analyst Valerie Plame, whose husband was an outspoken Iraq war critic.

"Mr. Libby, a high-ranking public official and experienced lawyer, lied repeatedly and blatantly about matters at the heart of a criminal investigation concerning the disclosure of a covert intelligence officer's identity," Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald wrote in court documents.

1. Clever sentence request. With Time Off For Good, that puts him gettin' out when
Bush leaves. It forces the Monkey to either leave the guy hanging, or show his hand...

3. Yeah, I think so too..

I noticed that during the MSNBC Rethug debate where Tweety did the moderating, he really let the candidates off the hook as far as responding to the question of whether Libby should be pardoned or not.

He starts by asking Romney first. Romney sputters out some nonsense about how he can't answer that because it would be inappropriate as a candidate and not the president to speculate on something like that.

Of course, Tweety loves the response and it's good enough for him.

And when you look at the clip of that question on YouTube, you see how Tweety had everthing in complete disarray by laughing and not taking the question seriously. The only other candidate who even had to answer the question was Tancredo. He responded with yes, but that the two border security officers should also be pardoned.

Matthews was incredibly easy on those idiots!

I think you're right though. Bush has nothing to lose at this point (so what if he goes from 28% approval to 27% ) and I think he'll pardon Libby too.

4. All good points.
Of course, they'll drag this out with appeals etc. so that Scooter's sentence will begin on Jan. 21, 2009...so that George can pardon him as one of his last acts.
