Why would you be surprised he'd be replaced with another rightwinger.

|
worse than an idiot. In any event, he was fired because he's a racist sexist pig and had incident after incident of being unable to control himself.
He was not a moderate, he was the typical rural white "independent" male who loves himself and loathes everybody not like him, particularly Democrats. If you think it did us any good having him repeat every stupid ass Dem bashing talking point that came along, think again.
It's STILL good he's gone.

|
right-winger in big media do that? No. And they wouldn't have to because they haven't gone after the Republican leadership for their failures like Imus did.
Imus was fired for being a moderate instead of a right-winger. The excuse that the corporatists used was that he made a racist "joke".

Because he was just doing what he was hired to do??? By trying to blame Al Sharpton? By whining about cultural music that has absolutely nothing to do with him?
I'm white. I know how many racists there are in the country. I know what it means to hire someone to "tell the nigger jokes". A lot of people really showed their true colors around here during the Imus fiasco.

Let me guess, you think because he nominally backed Kerry while kicking the crap out of his campaign, that he was a moderate? Or perhaps because he paid lip service to calling the war a mess, while giving Lieberman unrestricted air time to promote the neocon agenda? No moderate. Constant fawning over one rightwing politician after another, constant savaging of everyone even remotely left of the rightist politics the bullshit media system declares to be the 'center'.

If MSNBC wants something more right then Imus, they might have to dig up Joseph Goebbels or something. He spoke against the war sometimes, but he was totally soft when Cheney was on his show, and his hate for Gore and the Clintons woud alone remove him from being a moderate on my list.

5. Just for arguments sake - if Scarborough were progressive - he is BORING - imho! I tolerate him for |
|
an hour at night when it is a more structured program. Chatting away for hours at a time - he simply cannot do it.
My understanding is MS NBC ratings have gone in the toilet - they will not be able to pull them out by putting Joe in that time-slot.

32. Scarborough has been the best of the trial guests so far |
|
I'm up at that hour and have watched portions of everyone they have tried. Scarborough has enough offbeat tendencies to succeed in a format and time slot like that. Plus he can combine enough competence in the serious political interviews. His energy level and decibel level were down but that's been true of everyone, not accustomed to that hour.
Plus if you transfer Scarborough that lends potential to replace him with a progressive at 9 PM, which could benefit MSNBC if they could keep Olbermann's audience for an extra hour.

|
the suits who run these places are as clueless as can be. just look at your own network numb skull! who has the highest ratings? what's the only show on your network that is competitive with the other networks? Olberman's show! So, then....ummmm you can either choose any number of excellent entertaining progressive hosts or you can stick a needle in your eye and choose some week old same as it ever was right winger. Take your pick.
