FOCUS, PEOPLE. There's the fight for Congress, too. |
|
With Bush's numbers plummeting, we have to get out the broom and start thinking about sweeping Dems into Congress. We have the potential to win back both Houses of Congress.
For those of you who are saying you aren't going to participate actively in the Presidential campaign because various factors led to your candidate not drawing the votes nationally you felt he should have, there's another place for you to place your energy and talents. Find a Democratic Congressional Candidate challenging a Republican incumbent near you. It doesn't matter if they seem overmatched at the moment. When a national candidate for a party gets clobbered, it always affects the other races. A great portion of the voters who might vote for the incumbent will not show up at the polls. That will make a whole lot of House and Senate races toss-ups. Races that seem almost impossible at the moment may be very winnable the week before the election. Candidates in these races will need every bit of help they can get to help push these races over the top.
If your feeling a little discouraged by the primary process, and don't feel like working on the campaign of another Presidential Candidate, you don't have to. However, you do need to do something to throw out the neo-cons. Start researching your local House and Senate races, and get ready to help a good Dem go to Congress. The House or Senate Race you aid may be the race that takes control back from the GOP.

1. I am doing this - Jack Flynn, NC-9! |
|
If anyone is in Mecklenburg, Union, or Gaston counties of North Carolina, even if you are not in the ninth district, I urge you to get involved in the fight to take back the ninth district. The current representative, Sue Myrick, brags about her powerful position in Congress (she sits on the Rules committee) but is really a rubber stamp for the Bush administration. Meanwhile, we've got a good candidate - Jack Flynn, a twenty-year veteran of the navy who plans to focus, I believe, on veteran's issues and improving the job market. It'll be a tough fight but it is one that we can win!

6. You think US politics is all about one person in the White House? |
|
If you do, you're wrong.
Find a House or Senate candidate you can be enthusiastic about supporting and get to work.

3. I'll vote Dem, but I'm not happy with the Dem reps in California. |
|
They've bowed down to the Repub war machine. They'll probably go with the flow if there's a Dem president, but I'm not terribly impressed with them.

4. Then go help a real Progressive win a GOP seat |
|
The House districts can be pretty small in some places in CA. Maybe there's a good progressive challenging a jerk Republican in a neighboring House district.

9. Exactly! Our Dean group here in Johnson County, Texas, will not |
|
give up its hard work to get to the state convention. If we have to go as Dean for Kerry delegates, we'll do it. But we have to get there, and we have to bring people with us. AT this point, it's almost back to ABB, but Dean was our catalyst and will always be what brought us together. We, however, must survive long after this election cycle ends and Dean and Kerry have gone their ways. This Republican yoke MUST BE BROKEN in Texas!
