Muttering to self... over Clark endorsement press |
|
OK, is anyone else out there muttering to themselves over the amount of press being given to the Clark endorsement of Kerry. I think Clark's received more press over this "event" in these last 2 days than he got during the entire period from Iowa to his departure from the race.

It pisses me off but...
It makes me happy to see him.
It bodes well for his future being out there as a spokesman for the cause.

8. What "cause"?????????? |
|
Let's see, two days ago, the "cause" was to fight insiders in Washington who had perpetrated this Iraq mess. 25 Democrats didn't vote for the IWR, but now I see Clark doing that jerky "reporting for duty" crap with the guy who DID.
I'm having bigtime "cognitive dissonance" with Clark right now.

3. Of course, but what to do now? |
|
I'm just glad he IS getting press and that it's so favorable. Increases our chance of picking up the VP. Loved his joke too...... "requesting permission to come aboard sir, the army is here."

5. We's withdrawl from the race |

got him more coverage than his campaign.
So this week has been the best ever for coverage.
Ironic, ain't it?

6. I'm just muttering about since Tues....and Clark's apparent need |
|
to rush out and endorse someone who two minutes ago he said he couldn't understand (re: Kerry's 70% voting record with Bush, the importance of voting for someone "who knows who they are" and all the other stuff.)
The guy is into the adulation/approval thing. Got the same "loss of father story" as Clinton. Not out to crucify the guy, but the whole thing is sort of tacky.
He should have waited til later. Til after the sex scandal stuff was fully resolved. Maybe after the primaries if he had to endorse. If he hasn't made a deal for VP, and was hankering for Sec. of State, he didn't have to go whole hog from "outsider" to "insider" within 24 hours!!!!!!!
Who is advising him?
I'm just very disappointed right now in this "too eager" image that is being splashed all over the place. Some of those negative stories that were out may not be sour grapes after all.
I'm just aghast.

He should have waited until we had a nominee. Then it would have been seen as "the thing to do" because the guy is the nominee. I detest John Kerry and now I have to do some serious thinking about this because I refuse to vote for anyone who voted for the IWR and the Patriot Act. I just can't believe he endorsed Kerry. Of all people. :(

15. I never really cared about IWR that much |
|
And neither do most people.
Clark's decision to get in the race when asked was partly because Kerry was dead in the water and there was nobody running with any National Security or forgien policy experience.
I know it's one of the reasons I wanted him to run. I do not believe we can win with a candidate with no experience in that area, period.

dear incognito,
we must oust Bush in November, you won't have a choice but to vote for the nominee then, cause we'all will come after you if you don't! :spank:
As for the primaries you can still vote for Clark as I am. You can not vote at all, or you can vote for DK perhaps which might make you feel better.
Clark wants to be involved in the US government in 2005 one way or the other so he is trying to oust Bush and get on the winning team. I don't blame him. This quick endorsement should send that signal to all of us. If he had hedged about it, I don't think it would have been any more effective in the final analysis.
One last point, back in Sept. even Clark said that the IWR should not be a litmus test, he never really was as negative on this as Dean was. I think most Americans blame the Administration for Iraq, not the congress, although I do believe we need a stronger leader than Kerry, I also believe Clark will be part of the Administration in some capacity and that is good.
take care

If you're so "aghast", can I ask you if this is your first go round in politics??
What you say about your opponent in the heat of a campaign is one thing. Even what you believe about your opponent is one thing.
Getting Bush out of the White House is another.
And if you are really that conflicted, to the point where you are thinking of buying into old "negative stories" and psychoanalyzing his hidden motives, then maybe it's time to take off the avatar and move on.

It started Tuesday evening and has been non-stop Clark coverage ever since. It sucks big time. I hate the media. :grr: Not that I mind looking at Wes.....because I love seeing him :loveya:. I just wish he would have gotten this coverage while he was in the race. You're right, he's gotten more air time in 3 days than he did through his entire campaign.

(If you got one that doesn't rehash the smears I would like to read it.) I read a piece in the Atlanta Journal that started out very respectful then finished off rehashing every debunked meme without bothering to debunk them. Clark bows out — with potential http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/0204/12clark.htmlThis piece in the Boston Globe very similar to ajc piece: http://www.boston.com/news/politics/president/articles/2004/02/12/clark_calls_it_quits_on_fabulous_endeavor/THE WORST ONEan Op-Ed in the NYT. Clark is basically relegated to the heap of crazy Generals that failed in politics: Beware Generals Bearing a Grudge http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/13/opinion/13SMIT.html
