Let's examine some common things people happily spend money on regularly, yet provide less entertainment and information than DU does.
Various things you probably spend money on:
-------------------------------------------
Going to a movie with a friend:
$20Eating out with a friend:
$30A night of drinking:
$25Monthly cable bill with lots of channels:
$50Renting a couple movies:
$8A week's worth of morning newspapers:
$7A new cd:
$15Now, let's compare these prices with DU:
----------------------------------------
One-time donation for the fund drive (average):
$25Monthly donation (average):
$15We only ask you guys for money once every 3 months - how many times EVERY month do you spend money on those other things listed above? You're willing to pay for them, yet they don't provide you with anywhere near the entertainment and information value of DU, nor with the community and the relief of being able to network and communicate with tens of thousands of other people around the world who feel like you do!
Of course, you don't HAVE to donate to enjoy DU. But just think about how much time you spend on DU, and how much you pay for other sources of entertainment and information, and I think you'll see that not only is DU a bargain, but considering the amount of time most people spend posting on DU, why wouldn't you donate? DU is providing you with a service, and that service requires a lot of money to provide. We don't charge people for access to DU, like most traditional service providers do, we depend on the good-will of our members to do that on their own. So please, take a moment and make a
donation to DU - you know it's worth it!
Thanks!
