I love Al Gore and everything he stands for...but |
|
I don't like the way he speaks. The hesitant pausing distracts me. Picky, picky! Anyone else notice that?
I wish he would just speak nice smooth sentences. However, I'll still vote for him if given the chance.

8. You're right...but we need to compare him to something better than |
|
a bumbling idiot. I can certainly forgive him for that one little thing. Proof is...Clark sometimes does the same thing and I overlook that. I was just wondering if it was me or if anyone else noticed.

that it was so great to hear a president speak in complete sentences. Neither of the Bushes could speak worth a damn. Gore is very formal in his speech .. I think that's an asset in a president rather than a fault.

4. I'll tell you what it is, he has worked too hard to lose his southern accent |
|
I someties listen to people talk who have suppressed an accent and it doesn't work well. He would have been much more appealing if he had let his natural accent work.

6. I have heard him on many recent interviews |
|
and, from what I am seeing, he has gotten much, much more sure of his responses. I think he tends to hesitate more when his responses have a high degree of complexity.
What a concept...highly complex responses. It's been soooo long since we have heard even a semblance of intellect, let alone complexity from our current "leader".
I think he rocked on KO tonight.

|
Oh goody! He'll be on KO again Wednesday night. Wow! Keith rocks! I loved the fact that Gore thanked him for his views etc. He must have LOVED his special comments. I think those comments earned him the privilege of Gore being on his show.

Intelligent people, preparing to make a point of substance or significance, I have noted, do sometimes hesitate or pause for clarity!
This does not apply to the Bush smirk and studder!

9. Well, Moses was "slow of speech and of a slow tongue", too. |
|
And he was mighty influential. Sure, he never got to enter into Canaan, but still...
Of course, The Usurper isn't exactly the quickest talker either and he's been running things (into the ground) for the last six years, but then, he's not the quickest thinker either. Gore, however, is refreshingly bright, and I hope America can see the brightness through the hesitancy.
And apparently Lincoln had a high-pitched, nasal voice.
And Coolidge hardly talked at all.

19. I always thought I'd much rather havfe that beer with Al. |
|
The bar I used to frequent in my drinking days was a talk bar. No jukebox. At least half the crowd had PhD's, and most of the remainder were working on them. It was a good place to get into a long, intoxicated discussion with a couple of philosophy profs, a physicist or two, a stray neuroscientist, and the like. I think Al would have fit in. Especially after inhaling.

Not hard to tell why, and it is no wonder as he did look uncomfortable tonight as opposed to the relaxed way he interacted on the Daily Show when the atmosphere was much more relaxed and open.

I read that one of the most eloquent "speakers" to inhabit the White House had an annoyingly high pitched. scratchy voice. He seems to have been remembered for what he said, not how he said it.
