Romney Would Donate Presidential Salary
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/29/politics/main2865311.shtml

Republican Mitt Romney said he would likely donate his salary to charity if elected president, a financial freedom he described as a byproduct of a successful business career.

"I never anticipated that I'd be as financially successful as I was, and then my business went far better than I expected it would," Romney told a woman at a Liberty Mutual office in Dover, N.H., when she asked if millionaire candidates could resolve government problems in Washington.

"I wouldn't disqualify somebody by virtue of their financial wealth or their financial poverty," Romney added. "I would instead look at their record, what they've done with their life and whether they can make a difference, whether the things they have learned will enable them to be an effective leader."

1. Put that one up with these:
"Read my lips--no new taxes."

and

"I'm a uniter, not a divider" as the three biggest fibs told by Presidential candidates in the history of the position.

So he will give a few measly hundred thousand dollars up for the most powerful position in the world which could bring him millions in return for the long run. I could never vote for this cretin but he did do one good thing here in mass he pushed for more use of opensource and listened to quinn about implimenting ODF.

12. Does MJ have a proven record of business success?
After all the US Government is the biggest business
in the country. Unless I get someone in the mold of
Bill Clinton, do not count me in.

Habitat for Humanity or Regent University?

And I do agree that one should look at the record of the candidate. I looked at Mitten's and don't know what I'd be getting. I don't trust him.

14. Romney Would Likely Donate Presidential Salary to Mormon Church
If Mitt Romney is elected president, the Mormon Church can expect quite a windfall.

Romney says if he wins, he will donate his presidential salary to charity. If he stays true to past form, that means most of the money will go directly to the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints.

What do Republicans have to say about that?

15. He's REQUIRED by Church Doctrine to give 10 %, or he'll have his
'temple recommend' revoked.
They might even demand his magic BVDs......

25. Doesn't say anything about giving the required 10%
10% is only 40,000 while 400,000 is a windfall.

The church would get the 10% regardless of what he does with the money. So no additional benefit to the church while the whole kit and kaboodle or a good portion of the 400,000 is an additional benefit.

I wonder... do they need to change their bvd's each day or is does it magically clean itself?

28. Yes, that was my point. The Church gets 'theirs' no matter what.
One's ability/willingness to tithe is a basic determining factor as to whether or not one is allowed to enter Mormonism's most 'sacred' buildings. Not very mercenary at all, is it?
;)

19. Oh, please.... $400,000 is NOTHING to a man who is a millionaire MANY times over.
After tithing the required "at least" 10% to the Mormon Church, the rest will probably go to some secret fund to buy Halliburton Stock. GMAFB.

Do you think any Democratic candidate will have the balls (or ovaries) to call him on this piece of utter bogusness or what?
