If both Gore and Thompson wait until November to get into the race... |
|
It would energize the people who are sick of a year round election cycle...
But we must remember, the party people will be pledged...
Promises will have been made...
Fear will grip the smoke filled backrooms as commitments and inertia come face to face with the sweet smell of victory...
We shall see...
By the way, would that be a Tennessee two step, Al and Fred....

1. Why in the world would they wait until then? |
|
Barely two months before the primaries and with most people fundraising for other candidates... even if it's Jesus Christ, it's too late.

13. It allows them to stay in the news but out of the fray... |
|
And it's likely either one of them could raise loads of money by way of the Internet and Hollywood in no time flat!

2. Sounds like a Tennessee two step to me! |
|
I can't imagine that they would wait that long to get into the race...
What would be the advantage?
It would certainly be a shock to the establishment if they did ...
Time will tell, indeed.......

Edwards is not catching fire. If Hillary and Obama bloody each other, Gore is our best chance. Provided he wants it.
A bloodbath is shaping up among the GOP hopefuls, and most people wish they would go away anyway. The age of tax-phobia, Jesus brand, and blaming everything on tho "libbruls" is over. But the Republicans will win if people adopt a cynical, "I'm-too-hip-for-this" attitude.
Because there's also a Democratic bloodbath -- death by a thousand paper cuts -- taking place. "The Dems caved!" is the new mantra of the Right and Left alike. It is starting to seriously backfire. If the electorate turns cynical, the Republicans' exile will last two years -- maybe. Cynicism always helps tyrants. And if you think Hillary is a tyrant, then you don't know from tyrants.
Al and Fred will jump in if there is enough blood on the floor. I don't think Al wants to deal with the petty crap he had to deal with in 2000, when he won, but was hooted down by the Republicans, the hard-core Naderites, the RNC lawyers, Bush's cronies, the Supreme Court, and the constant whining and nagging of the Press. Fred Thompson will run as the next Ronald Reagan.
And like I said -- when the mood turns cynical, the Republicans win.

Thompson has announced for all practical purposes.
He'll make it official on the 4th of July if he isn't forced into it sooner.

10. He'd be an idiot to do that. |
|
You want to announce on a "dead" day, one on which your announcement is the only thing going on and people are paying attention. If he does it that day no one will hear til the next day at least.

9. Nobel Peace Prize - Oct 15th |
|
If Gore gets in, I predict it happens if (and only if) he wins this award and Hillary is not the frontrunner. In fact, the only way he gets in is if there is no CLEAR frontrunner by then. So, for those hoping that Gore runs, you should be rooting for Obama and Edwards to keep close to Hillary in the polls but for neither of them to leap past her.
