Vhy Do You Hate Amerika? Declare Wictory. 30 May 2007

The OCCUPATION of Iraq started on shrub's orders. It continues on shrub's orders. It will end on shrub's orders.

§______

The Democrats have gone about this Iraq thing all wrong. Their goal has been noble, but selling how un-winnable the occupation of Iraq is has been unpleasant. As people flip from Lost to American Idle they glance at the news and see Democrats bemoan how woeful everything is. What a drag. They're the Debbie Downer party. Screw that.

Put on a happy face!

Congress simply passes a law which says "We won the war in Iraq, now the troops come home." Send the bill to shrub. He either has to say we've NOT won the war and admit defeat or we did win the war and the troops come home.

Sell Iraq as a victory.

USA trained enough Iraqis, accomplished all goals, Iraq is fine, success is not "no violence" as Bush himself has said, so we win and we bring the troops home.

Simple.
Effective.
The best way forward.

USA won the war (lost the occupation but hey, one out of two ain't bad) in Iraq. Congress needs to pass Iraq Victory legislation.

We've already gotten "mission accomplished" from Bush.
We've been told 25,000 times that "we're making progress."
By declaring victory we would endorse Bush's "progress assessments."

USA simply declare the occupation to be won and the troops are coming home and send the bill to Bush. He can either veto it and call our troops losers and admit his policy is failed with no hope of ever winning or he can agree with the legislation, save face, join in the party and declare victory and bring the troops home.

I mean look, there isn't anyone over there who will surrender, sign a treaty on a ship, or wave any white flag. So the only group determining when we have won the war is us. There is no enemy with whom we can ever extract an admission of defeat.

The British decided their job was done. They declared success and packed their bags for home.

USA declare USA won and indeed USA won the war. It is as simple as that. (Faux noise machine loves this rubric; so give it to them in spades.) Just keep saying "USA won"; what the GOP is going to argue??

Declare victory today. Bring troops home now!

(When all this happens please notify the Noble Piece Price committee that I can be reached here at DU.)

1. I would declare myself insane, wear a clown suit, swing a rubber chicken...
and bounce on a trampoline..let's stop all this and declare victory.
