Fred Thompson to Enter '08 Race
Source: ABC News

ABC News' Rick Klein Reports: Former GOP senator Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., is eying an early July launch for his presidential campaign, and plans to create a fund-raising entity June 4 to start raising the millions he will need for his presidential campaign.

A GOP source tells ABC News that Thompson told key fund-raisers yesterday to prepare to write checks in early June. That fund-raising entity – not an exploratory committee – can be established for 60 days, meaning Thompson will have to make a decision inside of that window.

Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., -- a key Thompson backer -- declined to confirm the timeline, but said, “Early June is certainly going to be an exciting time. And the 4th of July is certainly within those 60 days.”

2. Let the media frenzy begin!
Not that it hasn't already...

Wonder if it will be Brownback or Tancredo that drops out first.

8. LOL! Got that right!
He went off the reservation two or three times last week. He's been on an endless "Hill the Shrew and her philandering partner in crimes Bill!"

Tonight's going to be a fricking orgy over Thompson! :puke:

16. THIS is how bad things our with this country ...
right now ...

Chris Mathews had a "round table" on Hardball yesterday that included Howard Fineman ... Fineman is your typical clueless MSM type, but not a raging conservative nutjob ...

The discussion was steered toward Thompson ... No lie, Fineman starts rattling off things about Thompson and says, again NO LIE "and he has national security credentials, what with being the DA on Law and Order" ...

If you think these people have managed to turn Guiliani into someone who is "good on national security" simply because he was mayor of NYC on 9-11, wait until they turn THIS guy, who actually has been a president on screen, into the ULTIMATE national security guy ...

3. He's a lazy campaigner so I don't see him going far
He's also more famous for being a hollywood "elite" actor than his time in the senate. To cap it off, Dobson has already denounced him so I doubt he gets the evangelical vote.

6. Dobson just wants his ring kissed.
The lazy campaigner part will hurt more.

But noise, it shall make.

9. Nice, a hollywood elite with multiple marriages. Just what the GOP loves
How is it that the candidates they select are everything they say they despise?

11. I wonder if his campaign ads will use clips from "Die Hard 2."
Seriously, what has this guy done other than that film?
And he wants to be President?
REALLY?!?

12. If this lazy philander gets the GOP so stirred up it shows how pathetic their
field really is. Looks like the one thing he put some real effort into was his selection of trophy wife.

She should really bring in the fundie vote.

14. Agree
Over 50% of Republics are dissatisfied with their candidates.
Thompson was polling at 17% quite a while ago.
I think he'll zip to front runner within a month.

He may well be a lazy, Iraq war lovin', neo-con, right-wing maniac, but look who's in the White House now...
