Hillary's Theme Song: "Candidate" by Bowie
CANDIDATE by David Bowie From the album Diamond Dogs

...I'll make you a deal, like any other candidate
We'll pretend we're walking home 'cause your future's at stake
My set is amazing, it even smells like a street
There's a bar at the end where I can meet you and your
friend
Someone scrawled on the wall "I smell the blood of les tricoteuses"
Who wrote up scandals in other bars

I'm having so much fun with the poisonous people
Spreading rumours and lies and stories they made up
Some make you sing and some make you scream
One makes you wish that you'd never been seen
But there's a shop on the corner that's selling papier
mache
Making bullet-proof faces, Charlie Manson, Cassius Clay
If you want it, boys, get it here, thing

So you scream out of line
"I want you! I need you! Anyone out there? Any time?"
Tres butch little number whines "Hey dirty, I want you
When it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad I go to pieces"
If you want it, boys, get it here, thing

Well, on the street where you live I could not hold up my head
For I put all I have in another bed
On another floor, in the back of a car
In the cellar like a church with the door ajar
Well, I guess we've must be looking for a different kind
But we can't stop trying 'till we break up our minds
'Til the sun drips blood on the seedy young knights
Who press you on the ground while shaking in fright
I guess we could cruise down one more time
With you by my side, it should be fine
We'll buy some drugs and watch a band
Then jump in the river holding hands

3. In what way?

Because I didn't make it "Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing (Reprise)"?

But then again some things posted here have been flat out lies lately. Why should this be any different.

10. Bowie is the sterling example of what NOT to do!
He's broken every rule and lived to regret what he's done.. he's been a learning experience when we've all had a chance to duplicate..not drugs per se, but learning through his personal experiences of the indelible cerebral morays that can destroy as well as promote. Seriously, I don't think he's ever gotten over it entirely! He's living a parallel life and mentally fighting it tooth an nail.

11. Actually, Bowie seems very much at peace with himself...
...yes, he has had his demons and struggles, but he seems quite content now. He is himself at last, not Ziggy, not the Cracked Actor, The Thin White Duke, etc.

12. I agree. His life with Iman and their child, he is creating in an almost constant way now.
I think that he has made it to a place where he can be happy for a while. More power to him! And I absolutely love practically everything he has ever done, from "The Man Who Sold the World" to "Heathen" and beyond...

15. I've been on a real Bowie kick...
...ever since picking up Mojo magazine's "60 Years Of Bowie" special issue a month ago. I saw him on the "Stage" tour and also the "Serious Moonlight" tour. I lived in England '79-'84 and saw him (and 2 assistants) get out of his limo and go into the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street to do some shopping. People that have dealt with him in recent years often comment on how gracious and decent he is.

17. I've been a serious Bowie freak since I first heard "Space Oddity"
back in '72. I have all of his releases and wear them out listening. It's good to run into another! Love on ya! (As he says...) :)

16. Yes, I Love Bowie...don't get me wrong...
I had a big Rose-Grey jumping horse named, "Ziggy Stardust", the crowd always loved him but the Judges never knew why! I've had an unconventional education. Economic experts from MIT, Constitutional Scholars from around the country, courtesy of my dad's appointed mentors and extensive travel throughout the world as a three yr old and up until my dad passed away.

Bowie was always my moral compass..would it be ok or would I have regrets.

As the saying goes: "I don't regret the things I've done, but for the things I didn't do."

22. "indelible cerebral morays"??? Not sure what you mean by that, but I can guess
by "morays" you didn't mean these guys:

Please, its "mores" -- yes, it is pronounced like the eel, but it is spelled "mores!"

23. Heh - yeah. And I'd also add that Bowie has better REAL morals than most people
and far more than faux moral leaders like Bush and his religious right ilk.

He happens to be a VERY nice, polite man who has shown great generosity over the years.

It shows she is wanting to bring into her campaign the average person.

P.S. I realize your post sarcastic, just thought I would give you a answer, though it wasn't deserved.

13. Gosh, and all along HRC's figurative "chomping at the bit" made me think her theme song is ...
Elected
by Alice Cooper

I'm your top prime cut of meat, I'm your choice,
I wanna be elected,
I'm your yankee doodle dandy in a gold Rolls Royce,
I wanna be elected,
Kids want a saviour, don't need a fake,
I wanna be elected,
We're all gonna rock to the rules that I make,
I wanna be elected, elected, elected.

I never lied to you, I've always been cool,
I wanna be elected,
I gotta get the vote, and I told you 'bout school,
I wanna be elected, elected, elected,
Hallelujah, I wanna be selected,
Everyone in the United States of America.

We're gonna win this one, take the country by storm,
We're gonna be elected,
You and me together, young and strong,
We're gonna be elected, elected, elected,
Respected, selected, call collected,
I wanna be elected, elected.

"And if I am elected
I promise the formation of a new party
A third party, the Wild Party!
I know we have problems,
We got problems right here in Central City,
We have problems on the North, South, East and West,
New York City, Saint Louis, Philadelphia, Los Angeles,
Detroit, Chicago,
Everybody has problems,
And personally, I don't care."

26. And all her pro-war tough talk reminds me of:
Masters of War
Bob Dylan

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

19. Statements from the Obama and Edwards camps...
Obama: I would never entrust such a decision to faceless people on the internet. When my campaign picks a theme song, it will be done with care. It will be one that reflects the depth of my campaign and the sum of my political experience. We're considering Madonna's "Like A Virgin."

Edwards: You can pick my theme song for $400.

29. For a Bowie song that tells it like it is, I recommend
"This is Not America" by Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays and David Bowie from the movie "The Falcon and The Snowman" which was a true story about a couple of young computer nerds that worked at the CIA.

31. Youtube link...
David Bowie & Pat Metheny version with lots of footage from the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JaSKHvjFpM&mode=related&search=

The movie "The Falcon and the Snowman" was a true story about two young computer nerds who sold secrets to the Soviet Union and were busted by the government. It starred Sean Penn and Timothy Hutton.
