3. I think there's an excellent chance of it |

By awarding the 2004 prize to Wangari Maathai, the Nobel Committee officially made the connection between peace and environmental justice. Gore fits right in.

As much as I'd like to see it, I just don't think it's going to happen.

One, is that the Nobel committee has a history of not awarding the Peace prize to Americans. Yes, Jimmy Carter is an exception, but that was only five years ago, which would also work against Al Gore's chances. Before Carter, though, it had been nearly thirty years since an American was awarded the Peace prize. And, why would they award the Peace prize to a citizen of a country currently engaged in a war of aggression? Perhaps as a middle finger to Shrub?
I personally believe that the next American to win the Nobel Peace Prize will be the one who stops the Iraq war. Perhaps this will be our next President, I don't know.
At the end of the day, I guess I can just call it a "gut feeling" that he won't win.

13. ooooo here's a thought.... |

Gore wins the prize then wins the presidency, stops the war and accomplishes World Peace. (you see where we're going with this... LOL)
Sarcasm aside, has anyone ever been awarded the prize Twice?

:hi:
I have to admit, while I think Gore deserves it and I hope he gets it, the stick in the eye of Ginblossom Georgie is the BIGGEST reason I'm cheering for it.

Poetic justice.
The Nobel Committee has to recognize that no other person would have been able to turn the world around on global warming. No other person. He may have in fact saved the planet. No telling that for sure without knowing who wins the presidency in '08 though.
