If the Democrats were going to cave, I don't see why they had to fund the war for four months |
|
They should've forced Bush to come back to Congress every week or every two weeks to negotiate for more funding. For one, he couldn't take his annual summer vacation to the pig farm. If our troops are fighting and dieing for Bush's war, then he should at least have to give up his summer vacation. Pelosi and Reid could have stated that they want Bush to personally report to them on the status of the war on a regular basis as a condition to continue funding. The issue would constantly be in the news and it would be a constant reminder for the American People as well as the Republicans in Congress that the situation isn't getting any better.

they were going to ratchet-up the pressure.
Where DID I get that idea?
Probably from the SAME EXACT place that other folks got the idea that we were going to be in and OUT of Iraq in something short of a year.
I won't make that mistake again.

3. I was personally hoping Murtha's plan would have been passed |
|
The one where they would only fund the troops for 2 months at a time.
