No name? No face?... No Legs. |
|
I can speak with some authority on this, having worked for the TV tabloids for 4 years (I know, I know :eyes: ):
Even if the Kerry story is true, it's not going anywhere. Stories like this scream for a visual. Right now we have a nameless girl having an alleged affair. 20 year old intern - let your imaginations run wild for awhile, because that's all the visuals you're going to get. There's nothing to televise. No file tape. No girl.
Unless I'm missing some very recent developments, here, re: file tape, etc...
If it's true, moving her out of the country was a good move. If it's not true, the story will play in print for a couple of days, then fade away. Either way, there's not much to worry about. The one thing Kerry has going for him is that the resources required to produce a re-re-re-broadcastable story (not a reader) - and have it play with the same shock value as Fawn Hall or Lewinsky - is not something the networks (or even the syndies) will bother with. The visual/audio elements of those other stories fell into the media's laps (Hart w/ "I dare you to follow me", & Lewinsky w/ the Tripp tapes). Even with print media: if there's no photo to run, it's not likely to get beyond the gossip column.
That's also why we don't get our investigative stories about * - nothing on tape but talking heads. And that's why they replayed the Dean scream over & over - tape. Janet's boob, Jacko, Kobe, Peterson. Tape, tape, tape, tape.

1. There is a name. Alex Polier. Used to be an AP reporter |
|
You can google her.
Before the campaign is over, we will doubtless know the names of every woman who ever went out with any of them, and probably some who didn't.
I have no idea which category Alex is in.

He's on the wane, he's going down, just like George W. You can't get away with crap like that more than once. Maybe he'll photoshop an "intern" into a picture of Kerry. Don't forget the beret! http://www.wgoeshome.comJeanette

It has to be worth some serious cash, from Rove if no one else. Film at 11.

8. I have my doubts about this story, BUT.... |
|
I'm willing to guarantee that there are at least 100 journalists enroute or already in Kenya looking for this girl.

Are they gonna hog tie her down, blindfold and gag her, then march her off to the Matt Drudge interrogation room for 'questioning'?
Let's speculate here for a moment. What if she denies all the rumors? Looks to me that this is the most likely scenario unless you go for my first one.

|
they'll find a photo of Alexandra Polier.
that's all they need. to milk the story long enough to boost ratings - then & only then will they use resources like that to take it all the way.
Crap!

22. I have big doubts about the veracity of the Kerry/intern story... |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 09:55 AM by alg0912
http://www.phoenixvillenews.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=10968863&BRD=1673&PAG=461&dept_id=17915&rfi=6<snip> Missy Keehn Ritti of Pottstown, a former intern for Kerry, was skeptical of the allegations. "Obviously, it is impossible for me to say," she said in a telephone interview. She is a former Daily Local News reporter. However, she said, during her tenure in Kerry's office, he acted professionally and gave no indication that he would become involved in an extra-marital affair.
Kerry has been married to Teresa Heinz, widow of Pennsylvania GOP Sen. John Heinz, since 1995. He divorced his first wife in 1988.
Daily Local News reporter Jessica M. McRorie, who interned with the East Whiteland woman at ABC News in Manhattan in 2001, also questioned the reports. "When I heard the news ... I kind of laughed to myself because I know this person," she said. "And it just doesn't seem logical. But then my immediate reaction after that was how hard it must be for her now ... to just try to keep sane because there's going to be a media circus in this because John Kerry's big in the news."
In the more than two years since she has known her, McRorie said she never heard her friend mention Kerry. "As a member of the media, I know we jump on certain topics," she said. "And this really hits home."
McRorie, who still keeps in touch with her friend, heard from her about six months ago. "The last time I talked to her she'd sent me an e-mail from Israel where she was honeymooning," she said.
McRorie said her friend is a hard worker. She is a former Associated Press reporter who put in long hours as a reporter, McRorie said.</snip> This just REEKS of a political dirty trick...
