Democratic smear books beginning to come out of the woodwork
Time magazine has on web site an excerpt from Robert Shrum's new book, "No Excuses" which paints a negative picture of John Edwards. I don't know if the entire book leaves one w/that impression, but the
Time article certainly does.

Carl Bernstein's book, "A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton" is coming out, too. It apparently airs some of her dirty laundry.

Doesn't it seem strange that these books are coming out RIGHT NOW? Now when KKKarl is under the microscope, Gonzo in hot water, war not too popular, in general * administration in the dumper since "his Monica" & Sampson have spilled their guts, & John Conyers is on the hunt for the truth!

Oh,yes, & Freddie boy has JUST announced he's running in '08? Fred, who has loads of baggage in his closet to try to run from.

Seems like very shrewd timing. Or is it just me?
What do DUer's think?

1. Effing loser Bob Shrum should be keelhauled round the fleet!
Even if no one hires him he is still willing to sink campaigns.

2. Surely you don't think this is new.
Books of this nature are timed for maximum effect by writers and publishers. It happens to help make money, regardless of whatever fringe political benefits for the author and his/her friends as well.

6. Make that democratic candidates
there sure aren't many about the republicans and if someone would make a laundry list, the whole book on each and every one, would be one thing after and other and no other text.

7. personally, I suspect that's because...
a) Republicans rarely have interesting lives;

b) Books about republicans generally don't sell very well because...

c) ...no one gives a rat's buttocks about them.

That last statement is not meant to be snarky-- think about who the intended audience would be. Democrats? I'll just bet there are plenty of dem voters who need a tell-all book to convince them not to vote for a republican candidate! Nyet. Republicans? Like they're going to line up to buy books exposing their candidates as scum. Hmmm-- does that demographic actually buy many books that don't have pictures on all the pages?

8. They are just catching up with us. I have a whole bookcase full of
books written over the last 4 years including ones by Scott Ritter, Al Gore, James Howard Kunstler, Emanuel Todd and Chalmers Johnson. I think they can write all they want but if they are as dumb as their politicians then no one will listen.

9. On the GOP side, I am disturbed by a recent trend
which seems to smear only Giuliani, and spares Mitt Romney.
It seems the race is being shaped to 2 pre-selected nominees.

11. Bernstien is a respected liberal journalist. very liberal. NY times is not known for
being an arm of Fox. Shrum is a democratic strategist.
Things run in cycles. there were a slew of anti obama stuff on the msm for the past few weeks and is just now easing.
Hillary has not really had to answer any hard questions or anything. now is her turn to have to answer.
they vet all the candidates even the repukes. Romney and Guillianni have been put through their paces.
