A Democratic senator lashed out Friday at Gov. Rod Blagojevich, saying the state's chief executive threatened him with political ruin if he does not vote for the governor's prized universal health-care plan.
"I had a very difficult conversation with the governor today," Sen. Mike Jacobs of East Moline said. "This is a political building. Sometimes we disagree.
"But I will tell you, I have never been threatened by another elected official in the way the governor of Illinois threatened me. The governor said that if I didn't vote for his bill, that he would spend every dime he has to make sure that I don't return to this building."

"I just want to make it clear that I refuse to be intimidated by the governor of Illinois. I don't know who the man thinks he is. And if he'd been in my hometown and talked to me in that manner, we'd have taken it outside.
