What would YOU like Kerry to say?
I posted my idea on a thread that got locked, so I thought I'd post it here, and ask for your ideas. Maybe if we come up with some good ones, we can send them to the Kerry campaign.

The response I'd like to see (re-written slightly from my earlier post):

"44 million Americans live without health insurance. 10 million Americans can't find jobs. 12 million American children live in poverty. Over 500 soldiers have died in a war we didn't have to fight. And given the chance to ask a question about what I would do about any of that, you instead choose to ask a question about some smutty smear. You are a disgrace to your profession. Get your mind out of the gutter and focus on things that might actually affect this country. Next question."

Either that, or the condensed version:

"You are a disgrace to your profession. Next question."

I like the first response, the second is not going to be effective.

15. Good answer.
I think Mr. Kerry can memorize that.

Heck, he probably already has it memorized! For some reason, I can see him practicing in the mirror! Hehe.

7. That's a great response, here's mine
You know, with people dying everyday in Iraq. With thousands of people lookign for work. With questions of trust and deceipt on the part of the President, I'm not surprised that agents supporting the President, who have a financial stake in profitting in more of his schemes... I'm not surprised that these people would resort to outright lies and rumor-mongering.

That's better than "There's nothing to it".

10. How about "It's a damned lie!" ?
This is not the time for a finely-nuanced statement, and anything less than that will allow this story to fester.

11. Completely agree...
My wordier version:

"Whatever love relations I may have had with another consenting adult are none of your business. In 1996 and 1998 the American people had ample opportunity to show that they do not vote based on stories about sex lives, and rightly so. They are sick of media-driven distractions from the issues that actually matter to them. I will make no statements about things that every reasonable person will agree are rightly private, and that make no difference to the office of the presidency. Get your cameras out of my crotch!"

But he ain't going to be doing it. My feeling is, there is something to the story, and he's going to go down with it in the same way Hart & Clinton were screwed - by denying it, instead of telling them to get lost.

- PRIVACY RIGHTS FOR AMERICANS -

- TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT MATTER, NOT SEX LIFE FLUFF! -

...wouldn't take that as an opportunity to lob a boulder at him?

Haha, the hardcore BushBots think he's the modern day sinless Jesus. You don't offer those manic twits an opening, because they'll ooze in through the smallest of openings to fester and stink up the place.

21. I would like him to say:
"Listen up everyone, I will only say this once. It is a damned lie, and I am going to sue Drudge for slander, and anyone else who has been in on this smear against me and my family."

He has to come out without hesitation and stand up to this, his statments on Imus this morning did not do that.

29. Or a slightly less aggressive rewording
How long are we going to let Republicans distract the American people with smears and innuendos? I say it stops here.

Or, here's another idea, borrowing from Holy Joe:

Nice try! (pause for chuckles) But I'm not going to play along with your attempt to use personal smears to distract the American people from the real issues in this campaign, which are... (go on to the "message" of the day)

28. "Hi, my name is John Kerry ...
... and I'd like your vote for President of the United States. Let me be clear: wars of aggression are both illegal and morally wrong, and I renounce my support of same altogether for the exact same reason that I oppose terrorism. I will make America a safer place by insisting upon the rule of law, not by becoming a law unto ourselves.

Anyone who deserves trust as President must, by definition, hold the Constitution sacrosanct. Therefore, I propose to restore the Bill of Rights by undoing the USAPATRIOT Act altogether. We don't want the kind of country where secret police spy on law abiding citizens without probable cause, or where people can be made to disappear indefinitely. That garbage was exactly the kind of thing that we condemned in the Soviet Union when I was a kid, and there's no reason to glorify it now, especially in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And let me tell you a few things about the decline in real income ... "

36. He doesn't need to say anything
No need to respond to trash on the Drudge Report. I really wish we could all agree that unsubstantiated rumors do not need a response. The burden of proof is on the rumor mongers. No one who would have first hand knowledge has accused Kerry of anything. Until that happens he should say nothing. "I don't respond to gossip." is all he needs to say if he feels he needs to say anything.

37. If he said that he'd be a hypocrite.
If I was the reporter and he said that to me here would be my response:

"You say 44 million Americans live without health insurance, but Mr. Kerry when given the option to vote for the Medicare Bill Proposed by the President you didn't bother showing up. You say 10 million American's can't find jobs, but yet you continue to support NAFTA. You say over 500 soldiers have died in a war we didn't have to fight, and yet you voted in favor of it. Mr. Kerry be glad I asked you about a "smutty smear" as you put it, because if I challenged you on your record you'd be finished."
