If the Dems actually stopped the funding of the war
... we all know what would have happened if the

Dems voted to defund the war. The media and all the Repubs would be screaming that we lost the war that George could have won, plus, we left our boys and girls over there without the means and equipment they needed to win and it'll be all our fault no matter what the facts are.

This way this war is still George's to lose not ours. Unfortunately people keep dying. That should be the major concern above politics. Unfortunately it is not. We should have defunded the war, I'm just saying the above would have happened and the media would have hung the dems out to dry.

We are damned if we do damned if we don't.

We should just start doing what is right no matter what the media and Repubs do.

Eventually the public will catch on. Some careers will be ruined on the way but it is the price of freedom and information.

1. I agree with you and add this:
The troops would be home long before the 2008 elections if we cut the funding. Anyone who figured it was a bad idea and would hurt the troops would be proven wrong -- and then a landslide victory for the Democrats.

8. I'm wondering, if the Dems are really almost as corporate owned as the
repubs, so most think we should stay for years to come with bases and the huge embassy they are building.

2. How many needless deaths will be enough.
We had this debate 35 years ago, the answer is the same. What will the Dems do differently if they are in the White House in 2008? Will it be okay to pull out then? Will they have a plan to "win"? Get this shit over now, quit driving the chimp's getaway car.

9. I'm starting to think the Dems. want to stay just like the Rebups.
Remember how Kerry and some of the rest used say that they agreed with the war but not how it was done, with all the incompetence etc... I think most of the dem. politicians want to stay and finish the job, steal the oil, don't let it be nationalized.
It's all starting to make perfect since.

12. Ya think?
Half of our party is aligned with the bi-partisan War Party.

3. I would spend more time trying to save lives than worry about what the GOP might say!
Edited on Sun Jun-03-07 03:50 PM by IndianaGreen
If the Democrats are so worried about the GOP that they won't do shit to end the war, then they might as well disband as a political party and let someone else take the role of opposition party.

Democrats had a mandate to end the war. Do it!

If you are worry about the media, then perhaps you should consider doing in America what Chavez is doing in Venezuela and castrate the rightwing media megaphones by not renewing their broadcast licenses.

4. You Say: "We should just start doing what is right no matter what the media and Repubs do."
That is exactly what needs to be done and it will also gain the Dems some respect in a lot of places.

They need to start standing up, doing what needs to be done and fire right back at the media when needed.

5. Why does everybody assume that * would bring the troops home if funding was cut?
Hasn't he proved already that he doesn't five a flying f*&k about the troops? More likely that * would keep them there and use our boys as a political wedge, and make daily speeches how the troops are dying because the dems didn't fund the war. It is a nice thought, but this president is too damn stubborn to give in on anything. No, the troops would not come home, they would die in even greater numbers. And even though it would all be *'s fault, the RNC spin machine would turn it around on the Dems.

7. I've thought he might leave them there too & blame Dems.
Bush seems not to have a drop of empathy for the troops and their families ~ and you're right about the powerful (and shameless) Rep spin machine.

10. Because I rather doubt that the military would allow their
forces to be stranded in mesopotamia without food fuel or ammunition. That simply would not happen. They would move their forces out, back to the bases in Kuwait and elsewhere in the region and back home.

Bush might bluff that he would do this, but he would look like a petulant child in doing so, but it would be a bluff. Mostly our side simply did Bush's bluffing for him, and then proceeded to fold like a cheap suit.

6. What we can do to them beats what they will do to us
Its high time we started thinking of what we can do to them instead of cringing at the thought of what they might do to us.

They are at a huge disadvantage having led us into this despicable war, huge deficits, etc. But they keep forging ahead because they know there are some who think like you on our side.

The GOP is guilty years of criminal incompetence. What have we to fear when the other guy's goose is so completely cooked???
