Attendees at RAINBOW/PUSH say Bill makes deciding between Barack, Hillary tough

Keynoting the opening day of Rainbow/PUSH's annual conference, Bill Clinton got the kind of hero's welcome in Barack Obama's hometown that showed black voters are far from deciding who they'll back for president. Arriving at 930 E. 50th St. on Saturday after giving the commencement address at Knox College in Galesburg, Clinton took the stage to a standing ovation.

Women squealed, men gave him shout-outs, and many rushed the stage before and after he spoke for a photo, autograph or handshake.
"There's a sense of hope from Hope, Arkansas, in the room," his host, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, said in introducing the former president.

Jackson lauded many gains for African Americans during Clinton's tenure, citing anti-poverty and racial justice efforts, job and wage growth and an African policy -- all drawing shouts of approval.

After Secret Service agents battled to get him away from a crowd clamoring to say goodbye, many in attendance said the kinship Clinton has built with minorities makes it difficult for them to choose between his wife and Obama.
