NEW YORK -- Federal prosecutors on Saturday charged that a retired cargo worker at John F. Kennedy International Airport plotted with a former member of the Guyanese parliament and two other men to blow up terminal buildings, fuel tanks and the fuel pipeline that runs beneath the airport complex.

Three of the four men, including the ex-airport worker and the former parliament member, were arrested Saturday and Friday, authorities said. The fourth man was being sought in Trinidad.

Former airport employee Russell Defreitas, 63, through the assistance of Abdul Kadir, was seeking the financial backing and blessing of a Trinidadian terrorist group, Jamaat al-Muslimeen, that was behind a failed 1990 coup attempt in Trinidad, officials said.
