What do y'all think about Edwards for Attorney General in Kerry's cabinet? |
|
I posted this elsewhere, but I think it warrants its own thread. What a perfect choice, huh!

His talents would certainly be better utilized than they would be as VP. On the other hand, Kerry as AG in an Edwards administration is even more appealing. ;)

2. It sounds like a reasonable idea |
|
with one small concern: shouldn't an AG ideally have some prosecutorial experience or at least criminal law litigation experience? Just thinking...

The AG is a supervisor, frankly, and his prosecutorial staff are veteran professionals. :)

Edwards for VP, Spitzer for AG and Clark for Defense or NS advisor.

Edwards is good at swaying juries, but nobody has a record like Eliot "Ness" Spitzer when it comes to grand juries fighting corruption.

We need someone who voted against the Patriot Act. Edwards will not guarantee that our civil rights be respected when his track record shows he voted for (or may have authored) the Patriot Act. If he vows to repeal the Patriot Act--not just to fix it, I would support him.

18. The Patriot Act will expire on its own... |
|
...because Edwards and the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee put in a sunset provision.
Ashcroft has been violating civil liberties with every one of our laws, not just the Patriot Act. The PA is a convenient scapegoat; it's Ashcroft that's the real problem.

12. A personal injury lawyer? Not likely. Try Elliott Spitzer. |
|
He's used to sniffing out corruption. Edwards would have to learn from the ground up. Those are two different fields of specialty.

19. There's only one L in Eliot... |
|
...and Edwards has sniffed out plenty of health insurance and industry corruption in his day.
We'll need Spitzer to be Governor of NY someday. He's got a long career ahead of him.

16. Would Kerry let him fight off fascism the way President Edwards would? |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:54 PM by AP
Something tells me Kerry won't even get elected, so we wouldn't even have to get our hearts broken by a Kerry who wouldn't turn back the fascists.

17. I have the same hunch about this. |
|
I don't think he (Kerry) would win, either. I've never thought so, regardless of current polls.
And I have never been wrong in my predictions about a general prez election (except in 1972, when I was young and excited about getting to vote for the first time). Other than that time, I have picked the winner every single time, and many times it was a sad thing.
