Discontent over Iraq increasing, poll finds
Americans also unhappy with Democratic-led Congress

Growing frustration with the performance of the Democratic Congress, combined with widespread public pessimism over President Bush's temporary troop buildup in Iraq, has left satisfaction with the overall direction of the country at its lowest point in more than a decade, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll...

...More significant, approval of congressional Democrats dropped 10 percentage points over that same period, from 54 percent to 44 percent...

Much of that drop was fueled by lower approval ratings of the Democrats in Congress among strong opponents of the war, independents and liberal Democrats. While independents were evenly split on the Democrats in Congress in April (49 percent approved, 48 percent disapproved), now 37 percent said they approved, 54 percent disapproved. And among liberal Democrats, approval of congressional Democrats dropped 18 points...

The GOP's spine has dissolved but the Dems must again find theirs.

7. How about their pathetic response after the surrender
"We decided to do what most of the American people wanted us to do."

That was so stupid, I can't believe anyone actually repeated it.

Well now its shown to be what it was: garbage.

5. Misplaced optimism
The Democrats and the Republicans both serve the interests of the Establishment. If the Establishment wants war, we get war. If the Establishment wants corporate-owned medical care, we get that, too.

The Establishment owns the USA, literally. It's their country, and the "two"-party system helps them manage their property. As long as we submit, we acquiesce in them screwing us. However, we have the right to withdraw our agreement to being screwed.

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country." -- Thomas Jefferson

Remember what Jefferson did to the British East India Company, the largest corporation in the world in 1776.

4. The American people are wising up, they know the Democrats let them down!
The Democratic leaders in Congress are fooling themselves if they think the voters bought all that bullshit about holding Bush accountable, while giving him another blank check for war.

The voters that gave us a Democratic majority can also take it away if they see the Democrats as war enablers.

6. I think so too
I have heard numerous times about how dangerous it was to oppose Bush on this. But now we see there is also political price for surrendering so publicly.
