"President Bush won't be issuing any pardon for former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby..."
President Bush won't be issuing any pardon for former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who was sentenced to 30 months prison Tuesday for obstruction of justice and lying to investigators during the CIA leak probe, at least not "now."

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters that although Bush "felt terrible" for Libby's family, the president would be sticking to the sidelines for the time being.

"The president said that he felt terrible for the family, especially his wife and his kids," Perino said.

According to Reuters, Perino "noted that the appeals process, which could prove lengthy, was just getting under way."

So, that is the position as of "now," but who knows with the future.

1. Georgie doesn't forgive slipups.
So far as he's concerned, let Cheney pardon Libby. Oh, that's right. He can't.

2. Why should Bush pardon him now as there is an appeals judge ...
prepared to overturn the conviction?

4. You know that
there's an appeals judge set to overturn the conviction? How would you know that?

8. You are right - I don't know for a fact that the conviction will be overturned....
I'm taking a guess.

3. Someone, maybe it was Jeffrey Toobin, said that a pardon would likely come, after...
...the 2008 election, when B*sh is in his true lame duck period. But he didn't think that there was much hope for any appeals. I guess he was saying that the the trial was well-run and no real errors occurred. So, if Libby runs through that process quickly, he'll serve some time before he's pardoned. But his lawyers will drag everything out as long as they can, I'm sure.

5. I agree.
No way is Bush gonna pardon him now. If he does, it will be after the 2008 elections ~~ no need to remind people before how the Repukes are treasonous bastards BEFORE they vote in November 2008.
