IMHO, Nobody is going to pardon Libby |
|
Bush -- get real
Libby has to serve only 80% of the 30 months, and from what I read it does not sound like the Judge is going to let him out on bond until all appeals are done. So
If we fail and a Repug gets elected President, by the time they take office in Jan 2009, Libby will have served most of his sentence. And by then it will be Libby--- Libby WHO...
MHO Libby gets a two year vacation in some minimum security prison...
Now the $250,000 he has to pay is going to hurt.

1. Why would the fine hurt? |
|
Didn't Fred Thompson organize a legal defense fund for him? Won't the money come from there?

3. He'll get pardoned for two reasons |
|
First, self preservation. You can bet Libby could have defended himself better or arranged a sweet plea bargain if he had given up the real story and the real culprit - Cheney, perhaps with the knowledge of the Chimp - because as all good underlings, Scooter would never had taken it upon himself to out someone unless he had the word. Scooter was almost certainly told that if he took the fall, he wouldn't fall far, but if he rolled, so would his head.
Second, it will piss in the eye of justice, Democrats and the American people, and we all know Bush well enough to know that this reason alone is enough, logic or what is right be damned.
