Are these the final days? *Mike Huckabee* slammed Bush** on Katrina!
Only a couple of our Dem candidates have even uttered the K-word, and here's the loopy right stealing the high, er, low ground:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070606/ap_on_el_pr/republicans_debate

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee added his voice to those criticizing the war effort. He added that the Bush administration "lost credibility" with its response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Of course, it could be that he was governor of a neighboring state that took in quite a few Katrina evacuees, while not getting as much press as, say, Texas.

1. Whoever wins their nomination is going
to select Huckabee as VP. Watch and see. Rudy-Huckabee watch and see them market it as the best geographic ticket.

3. I think you are onto something. If Rudy gets their nomination he
would need someone like Huckabee as balance. However, I'm beginning to think that Rudy will not wear very well in the coming months and he'll not get the nomination.

Ughh ... this is like looking into the future and getting a clear premonition ... horrible. I can see myself standing in the rain roboticaly waiting to feed my Shillary card into the machine to defeat the ***/huckabee show ...

6. In all fairness to Huckabee, I think he organized the effort in Arkansas
to receive Katrina evacuees because it was the right thing to do, not because of the press coverage he may or may not have received. I don't remember how many evacuees eventually came to Arkansas (or how many have decided to stay here), but he arranged for buses to go to Louisianna to pick them up and opened up state parks in order to house people until other arrangements could be made. I don't agree with his politics, but I believe his motives were mainly humanitarian instead of political in this instance.

7. I was not suggesting that he was angling for the press
but rather, that Ark.'s relief effort (around 70,000 evacuees taken in) was overshadowed by the much larger effort in Texas (the Astrodome alone may have had half that many). This is what gives Huckleberry "street cred" to poke Bush** in the eye: he was there -- and Bush** and Heckuvajob Brownie weren't. :grr:
