Obama and Graham Trade Barbs on the Senate Floor Tonight
Things are getting ugly in the Senate. Seems like the usual decorum is deteriorating into seeming like the House of Representatives. The Fight between Lindsay Graham and Barack obama was carried from the chamber into the hall where some very heated arguing continued.

WASHINGTON -- Presidential politics and partisan resentments reached a boil in the Senate Wednesday night, as a heated exchange between Sens. Barack Obama and Lindsey Graham erupted on the chamber floor and continued in a nearby corridor.

Senators had been debating a contentious immigration overhaul for hours when Obama - the Illinois Democrat running for president - introduced an amendment that would end a key provision after five years rather than 14.

His target was a proposed point system that would make it easier for would-be immigrants to obtain visas based on their education levels or work skills rather than on having close relatives already living in the United States. "We can't weaken the essence of what America is by turning our backs on immigrants who want to reunite with their family members," Obama said in his speech.

The amendment infuriated Graham, a South Carolina Republican with close ties to another presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. Pacing the Senate floor and waving Obama's amendment, Graham loudly accused Obama of undermining a delicate agreement whose advocates have shown political courage.

5. I love it! Thank you, Barak! I've been waiting for someone to clean Linds*y's clock
''Our side would welcome that debate," Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, told Democrats hinting at a floor fight over the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. "And frankly, we'll clean your clock."

How's YOUR clock doin' now, Linds*y??? How's it feel to have it cleaned by a REAL MAN?

6. I was watching CNN political analysis on Paula Zahn's show.
Obama was portrayed quite favorably and he looked fabulous. Really.

It is really amazing that as a freshman Senator he's giving the rest of the field a run for their money. Occasionally I wondered if he was kowtowing to Sen. Clinton maybe schmoozing for the VP slot, but it is clear to me Obama is in this thing to win.

If Gore doesn't jump in, I'm all over Obama's campaign. A Gore/Obama ticket would be sweet.

8. Obama's from Chicago--they don't play puffball politcs there.
I too am impressed by Obama's campaign especially since he won his Senate seat against a very weak opponent.

His natural charisma and political talent is helped by some real street smart political knowhow that he must have picked up along the way. He has good people working for him and he knows when to listen to them.

I'm still not sold on him--I'd like to see someone with successful executive experience as our next president (paging Al Gore?) because he or she is going to have one hell of a tough job--but I am impressed with what he's done so far.

My dream ticket Gore/Obama.

9. I'm on hte fence about Obama....
.... but if he will roll up his sleeves and take it to those idiots he'll win me over easily.

I'm tired of milquetoast, really sick and tired.

11. I have fallen off the fence onto his side. Just finished "Dreams from My Father." I
chose this one because it was first published in 1995, before any Presidential ambitions. I would be proud to have a man with that kind of experience and insight as President.

12. They say a man is judged by the company he keeps...
...but I always like to add,"..and the people he pisses off!"

Anything that gets Graham ready to pop a forehead vein has to be on the right track. :)
