Bill Richardson: Soft on Wolves? A blog entry YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE!
But it's real, and here's the link:

http://blog.johnedwards.com/story/2007/6/4/4042/10998

Here's just a small excerpt:

Nothing has been done to protect our children in New Mexico and if Bill Richardson is president I am sure he will continue support coyotes attacking kids in New Jersey, alligators killing children in Florida, mountain lions stalking and attacking children Arizona, not to mention wolves stalking children in every state they are soon to be released in. The difference will be that in these other states corrective action was taken to protect children, in New Mexico these dangerous habituated wolves are still out threatening people and howling in people's front yards and wolves are even denning near homes.

The dangerous Durango killer wolf pack where the female is noted for biting a person was re-released in the state of New Mexico (she was picked up last year to protect her from the 3rd strike and having to be removed with no chance of rerelease). She was released pregnant but dumped her pups, killed more cattle, and ran back to Catron County were her and her mate are constantly harassing citizens and hanging out in the front yards of a local ranch with children howling.

Yet Bill Richardson has let all this go on like it is business as usual. Even a New Mexico County enacted their wolf ordinance to protect residents and children and now its the "feds" harassing this poor New Mexican county. Bill Richardson remains a supporter of this wolf program and the destruction to our rural communities.

If Bill Richardson is elected president or even vice president I am sure he will work to make your neighborhood save for dangerous predators. His statements, appointments to New Mexico Game and Fish, and actions make it clear that as the safety of our children is not important to him; dangerous habituated wolves are.

I see he didn't, which makes me feel a better, but it's a weird blog all the same.

he is responsible for its content.
If he didn't write it, then he at least endorses it.

It's to a point where I just withdraw from any conversation regarding wolves as the wolf haters are borderline rabid.

8. Edwards wrote that ?
He just lost my support. He was in the running for me (more likely as a VP candidate).
I will not consider him anymore. That blog entry is completely irresponsible.

The poll question sums it up.
* Yes - Kids First!!!
* No - Wolves should be supported over child safety
* Not Sure

This has nothing to do with the the Wolves program or children's safety. It has to do with bullshit propaganda.
He has turned it into a "My opponent wants your children killed by predatory animals."

Cheers

Candy Durango Crowley? Cause if so....Ye-Ah....something should be done to protect our children against such an annoying Wolf Windbag and that dangerous Crowley Predator!

11. why do you hate wolves?
So I guess you're for wiping out wolves, mountain lions, and alligators? Never mind that it's not their fault we're encroaching on their habitats. I can imagine how frightening it is to feel threatened by a wolf, but I see this as a problem that could be solved by closer parental supervision and public education about how to act if you should happen to come across a wolf.

I notice that none of the children mentioned were actually injured, just frightened. A "near attack" is still not an attack. And while I'm sorry about the horse, killing a horse or attacking a dog is not the same as killing or attacking a child.

These animals are dangerous, but I don't want to see them go extinct in the wild.

15. I wouldn't be suprised if a rancher's group was behind that blog.
They tend to fear the reintroduction of wolves into the wild and put out a lot of misinformation about it. Most studies I've read have found that the wolves usually steer clear of human populations and the "attacks" on livestock are extremely rare. It looks like someone with an agenda has signed onto the Edwards site and I hope they delete that silly blog.

Official site of Wolf Hollow. Wolf Hollow is a non-profit organization established in 1990 to teach people about the importance of the wolf in the wild. Wolf Hollow offers a unique opportunity to view gray wolves in as natural a setting as possible. Come see how they interact with their pack members and live in a social unit very similar to human families.

19. The best part...
Should corrective action be taken (wolf shot or placed in zoo) if a wolf endangers or threatens a child?

Yes - Kids First!!! 51 votes - 46 %
No - Wolves should be supported over child safety 51 votes - 46 %
Not Sure 8 votes - 7 %

110 Total Votes

Please vote no, regardless of the editiorializing this bozo does after the "no". This yahoo is just looking for a reason to kill these animals.

Hey there -

Just wanted to make sure that you know that blog post from the Edwards Blog you folks write about is the Edwards blog equivalent of a diary on DailyKos, right? From the community, not from the campaign?

Thanks,
Tracy
Oh, hey,

Yeah, we kind of noticed you let any crazy retard post ridiculous bullshit on John Edwards’ official campaign site. That was kind of our point.

26. This is, I think, the #1 difficulty in "netroots" campaigns.
The lack of control over a candidate's message due to people co-opting the candidate's machinery for their own agenda. I saw it happen as a member of Dean's campaign; Dean said "you have the power", and people started using that power for whatever they wanted.

23. It reminded me of the flights of fancy we see here from time to time,
trying to paint an opposing candidate badly.

"Nothing has been done to protect our children in New Mexico and if Bill Richardson is president I am sure he will continue support coyotes attacking kids in New Jersey, alligators killing children in Florida, mountain lions stalking and attacking children Arizona, not to mention wolves stalking children in every state they are soon to be released in."

33. Wolves and gators and bears, Oh My! Wolves and gators and bears, oh my!
Oh wait a minute, she didn't mention bears and there was a recent incident where a bear in Pennsylvania tried to pull a girl out of a tent. Kid probably had food in there with her--a big no no when camping.

Maybe Bears are Edwards supporters.

"Hey BooBoo let's rustle up some pic-a-nic baskets and head on over to that Edwards rally!"

32. ILLEGAL ALIEN WOLVES!
Those wolves came from MEXICO!

Seriously, though, if a wolf pack had taken to attacking livestock, as alleged in the case of the horse that was killed by the pack, and threatening humans, wildlife authorities would either remove the wolves to a more remote area or destroy them. It would be interesting to find out if there was anything to these attacks. The links lead to a virulently anti-wolf blog but I didn't see any links to news stories or anything like that.

But hey, I'm living a few miles from the part of New Jersey where killer coyotes are running wild in the burbs, threatening children and killing pets. It's easy to be cool and dispassionate when it's not your kids or animals involved.

If I thought that wolves living nearby threatened my kids or my animals I'd be sleeping with a shotgun next to me.
