Here in New Orleans...
Post-Katrina hurricane season 2 begins - and still the levees aren't fixed, the insurance companies are still delaying and not paying, the marshlands and wetlands continue to recede, the federal (and state) aid still isn't here.

Bobby Jindal will probably be our next governor, but William Jefferson is still in Congress. (I don't care what letter follows a name, the corrupt must go!)

I just visited my parents' house for the last time. A frame with overgrown grass in the yard.

Damn the corrupt, incompetent, greedy politicians. Damn Bush.

1. It just baffles my mind that more MSM attention isn't paid to the NOLA crisis, oh but wait! Paris
Hilton is sprung from jail. "Stop the fucking presses" and send out the 'bubbled headed, bleached blondes' to see if they can catch a photo of 'todays role model'...

I am so fucking sick of this country and yes indeed, I have plans to leave within weeks after my final parent passing, which I dread and do not wish to hasten.

Until then...I'll raise all the hell I can and consider it a mission to do so.

4. Paris is the best damn argument against inherited wealth.
Look what too much money has done to any American child. She can do the crime but not the time. Paris Hilton would never be able to go across country in a covered wagon. Too much money degenerates the American spirit. NO MORE PARIS HILTONS!!!

And think what that money could have done for NOLA.

5. Too many college students need to have an allowance...
for they have too much money to throw away. And so many of them - often the hardest working - can barely afford the education, even with scholarships and loans.

2. I hope and pray that this hurricane season is better
I will continue to remind my Rep. that we need to send aid to NO and the region.

3. I am so sorry. And yes, DAMN BUSH.
A unique city that deserves to be cherished and preserved at all costs has been left to die by the greediest bastards ever born (and topping that list is something).

6. My son has been working in Violet since the fall
and in his last phone call, told me he wants to ride out this hurricane season in Violet, to help with rescue, if needed...he's made a lot of friends there.

Unfortunately, I think LA has a history of corrupt politicians.

My best wishes and prayers to you and your parents, and let's hope for the weakest hurricane season in history!

7. Here with you...
Do you really think Jindal will win?! Yikes!

We are worried too. We have a plan ready to evacuate, but it is scary to think we could see a repeat of two years ago because of all the incompetence. Another hit will devastate this city all over.

8. Can people get flood insurance in NOLA?
I read somewhere that lots of people aren't buying homes and
moving there because they can't get flood insurance.

Know anything about that?

11. I've still got mine, though they're fighting against paying me
which is weird, since it's federal money to begin with. As far as I know, one can still get it, but depending on where the home is located, it might be very expensive.
