NH POLL: Hillary up by only five over Obama (26% - 21%), Edwards at 18%
In the the aftermath of this week's presidential debates in New Hampshire, Clinton and Romney come out on top in a new Mason-Dixon poll of likely primary voters there. Among likely Democratic primary voters, Clinton leads Obama, 26%-21%, with Edwards at 18%, Richardson at 9%, and Biden at 6%; no other Democratic presidential contender gets more than 1%.

Among likely GOP primary voters, Romney leads McCain, 27%-16%, followed by Giuliani at 15%, Fred Thompson at 12%, and Huckabee at 5%.

The Mason-Dixon poll -- which was given exclusively to NBC and MSNBC -- was taken June 4-7, 2007, and the Dem field has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%, and the GOP field has a margin of error of +/- 5.3%.

3. Heck yes, i'll take a five point deficit right now...especially considering NH has an open primary
and Obama kills Hillary in support among independents and has more cross-over appeal. Think McCain in 2000, as he trounced the *establishment* candidate (Bush) in NH.

8. I still think Edwards will cut through the first two and this looks promising.
We shall see.I will support whomever is the Dem. candidate. I have not yet endorsed anyone but am definately leaning Edwards. But I must say Hillary impressed me in the last Debate and I was not a Hillary fan. I have yet to be smitten by Obama.I still don't see any substance but he is a nice guy.

anything else would be folly. The simpletons of this country are not ready to elect a woman or a black as president. Sounds horrible doesn't it! Don't make them prove it.

After 231 years of white males ruling our Nation, Clinton and Obama represent the true opening of the American political field to minority populations.

29. That is a matter of opinion. I don't blieve any of us should vote by gender or race.
The fact that Hillary is female and Obama parrt black has no bearing on their credentials.I want the best candidate to win and I don't care what race or gender they are. I think it smacks of soft bigotry to consider those issues, but that is only my opinion.

When comparing polls across time, it's generally best to use polls from the same polling organization.

32. No. This is apparently Mason-Dixon's first NH poll
I looked at the site Rinsd linked too and this is the first MD poll there. Let's see if this is an anomaly or a sign of a shift in NH. The NH polls have been a lot more inconsistent than the Iowa ones. Some NH polls have shown her with a commanding lead, others have had the race close, while 2-3 had Obama leading at various points. In Iowa the margins have consistently been close.

They average out to her leading by double digits.

38. at this point in the campaign, polls are meaningless . . . particularly since . . .
they all become null and void as soon as Al Gore announces . . .

in political time, 18 months is an eternity . . . whatever people may be thinking today is most assuredly not what they will be thinking a year from now . . . too much can (and likely will) happen in the meantime . . .

40. Good News for people who want more Imperial Wars.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- If elected president, Sen. Hillary Clinton said, she would likely keep some U.S. forces in Iraq in a supporting role after 2009 because America has "a remaining military as well as a political mission" that requires a presence there.
However, in an interview with The New York Times published Thursday, Clinton said the American troops would not play a role in trying to curb sectarian violence.
Rather, they would be positioned north of Baghdad to combat terrorists, support the Kurds, counter any Iranian moves into Iraq and provide logistical, air and training support to the Iraqi government "if the Iraqis ever get their act together."

Obama outlined a plan for maintaining a U.S. presence in Iraq similar to Clinton's.
"Withdrawal would be gradual, and we'd keep some U.S. troops in the region to prevent a wide war, to go after al Qaeda and other terrorists," he said.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/15/clinton.troops/index.html

This is the exact same military mission that bush* currently claims.

44. Step 1: End all combat operations TODAY.
Step 2: Withdraw ALL US Military personal to INSIDE bases with orders to fire ONLY if fired upon.

Step 3: Immediately expel ALL civilian security contractors TODAY.

Step 4: Give Sadam's Baghdad Palace (Green Zone) BACK to the Iraqis, immediately redeploy ALL US personnel to other US Bases for orderly withdrawal to the US.

Step 5: Declare ALL contracts signed with foreign corporations since the Invasion NULL & VOID, especially those that have privatized Iraqi assets.

Step 6: On bended knee, BEG the UN and neighboring Middle East countries to clean up the mess we made in Iraq and offer to fund stabilizing and rebuilding efforts by other countries with NO strings attached.

Step 7: Begin orderly withdrawal of ALL US Military forces from their bases.

Step 8: Pledge to hold those responsible for War Crimes accountable to the International community.

Step 9: Use the $Billions to fund Alternative Energy & Conservation, International Law Enforcement, and Border and Port security to deal with Middle Eastern terrorism.

These 9 things would be a good beginning. The only way to fix Iraq is to stop breaking Iraq.

Cheers.

Because they are too dependant on the Iowa results. If Hillary flames out in Iowa and finishes 3rd, she's toast in New Hamsphire.
