"Hillary Clinton enjoys renewed Hollywood clout"

An early infatuation with Obama's candidacy appears to be fading among the ex-first lady's Hollywood supporters.

t's starting to look like Hollywood's infatuation with Sen. Barack Obama was just a flirtation before it settles down with its longtime girlfriend, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Most of Hollywood may lean Democratic, but the direction of that inclination can be as fickle as the Santa Anas. During the last presidential election, some people changed their mind five times before they settled on Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.).

And, as it is with everything in this world of glitz, candidates — like celebrities — benefit from buzz.

So here's the buzz these days: Clinton's presidential bid has begun to regain momentum over Obama's in the entertainment industry.

In fact, it's become so strong that Steven Spielberg, once considered a solid supporter of Illinois Democrat Obama, is now believed to be leaning in favor of Clinton, according to longtime industry politicos. (Spielberg's political spokesman, Andy Spahn, was coy this week when asked about Spielberg's political thinking. "We have nothing to announce," Spahn said, but stay tuned.)

1. I guess Cloney, Affleck and most of the important stars of today don't count
clinton's support comes from the 1970s wing, the washed up crowd.
Obama's comes from the vibrant, in, and important todays crowd.

14. Why is this always the typical Hillary response?
When they get slammed down they respond with . Pay attention and you'll see that happens all of the time.

I've never seen a more childish group of supporters than those who support Hillary.

20. "The 70's washed up wing"???
I mean, you talk about REACHING for a rationalization. Obama has better Hollywood stars? That deserves worse than a rofl!

3. Well, as we all know, Hollywood success is directly equal to intelligence/political acumen
Are you seriously going to debate with us who has the better celebrities? Well, I hope Obama gets a nod from Paris Hilton real soon - she's hot stuff right now!

If star power = votes, the Democrats would win every time. What's most important for the candidates to get from Hollywood is the $$$$$ - and many members of the "washed up" crowd still have plenty of cash.

(Note: I actually think Ben Affleck and some of the other Hollywood celebs are relatively intelligent, but that's irrelevant here, as we're evidently discussing who's hot and who's not.)

6. Ben Afleck on Hardball --LA is OBAMA Country
I am no taking sides. Just reporting what I saw
and heard. Last night. I was surprised really,
but he was rather emphatic.

7. If Ben Affleck says it, it must be true
:sarcasm:

(Note: I actually like Ben Affleck. However, as he repeatedly said during his interview on Hardball, he's not a political expert.)

8. Yes , Affleck honestly acknowdeged his lack of expertise.
But he is probably as expert on his home town as
anyone else.

I was really responding to earlier post who said Afleck

9. Hollywood isn't his hometown.
As he said on the program, his hometown is Boston, but now he divides his time between LA and Georgia.

12. I watched a portion of Affleck on Hardball..
Less than fact based, Affleck seemed to entertain Matthews with over the top pseudo analysis of what "IS"..than anything else. Affleck should get an Oscar for his acting ability to confuse, distort, retrofitting spin from the sublime to the ridiculous to a quizzical, captivated Matthews. Matthews sat there, jaw agape, for many moments unable to decimate statements Affleck was selling as political analysis or jive talking for a reaction.

Rumors abound, Affleck is contemplating a run at the Senate in the not too distant future. He may be hinting at giving Kerry palpitations.

19. Maybe someone should tell the mayor.....

http://www.canyon-news.com/artman/publish/article_5593.php

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was also present..... He announced his endorsement of Senator Clinton.

Villaraigosa praised Clinton as a leader who will show the country how we can change our direction. He said, "By supporting Clinton, voters would bring the country back toward a new and brighter course."

One Bruin official said that Villaraigosa's position as mayor of the 2nd largest city in the country, and now one of the four national chairs for Clinton's campaign, the mayor's endorsement will help provide additional voter support.

His endorsement of Clinton is also helpful because he is very popular among Angelenos and Hispanics.

11. The smart people in Hollywood are not investing in a fading Obama
"Like Democrats across the country, Hollywood activists are still wondering whether Obama has the experience to tackle the country's problems in these dangerously troubled times. "Sen. Clinton continues to impress people, and the more times people see her and listen to her, the more they view her as presidential material, which she absolutely is," said consultant Noah Mamet, who represents Clinton loyalist Casey Wasserman. "She helps herself immensely every time she visits L.A."

Mamet thinks the industry's flirtation with Obama was just a passing fancy, a bit of what-if casting, as in, what if we could get Brad Pitt to play Albert Schweitzer?"

Agreed, Obama auditioned for Hollywood. He was screentested and given the benefit of the doubt. Obama's 15 min of fame.. done.
